sled to brooks lake lodge

brooks lake lodge&spa
There's many trails you can take from Togwotee to Brooks Lake Lodge, just make sure you make it your destination one of your days.
Lar and I couldn't decide in the beginning whether we wanted to stay at Togwotee or Brooks Lake Lodge. Tog' seems to be the more centralized, party, sociable atmosphere...with a quicker way into town (Jackson) or elsewhere, for that matter. But Brooks is secluded, romantic... and much classier.
Based on our lunch there, their restaurant has fabulous food (try the chowder in the bread bowl), and the staff is friendly. Speaking of "staff", the owners dog hangs out there, too. Or at least he was when we were there. A friendly, well mannered, black lab named Ruger. We became pals. He likes to hug while horizontal. ohh so sweet.

"Moran area"
Moran is so small, can't say we actually stayed there. But we did stay at Togwotee, which has Moran as their mailing address.
Regardless of where in the area you stay, this is pure, 100% a snowmobilers dream.
"Endless trails and hills.."
...stopping to smell the roses, er....
"So much to do...."
..where should we go next?
"and then.."
..more playing
Day 3 ~ Wyoming Trip

"Thursday, August 23, 2001"
Whitewater travel group. Getting ready to take off for the 8 miles of whitewater on the Snake River.
Everyone in this group was very nice to be around. It was funny...for as many tourists from all over the place...everyone, except the travel guide, was from the East Coast. Besides myself, there was a family of 4 from Philadelphia, PA, a family of 3 from Bradford, PA (who's son was the camp cook), a guy from Manhattan, NY, and a lady with her son from New Jersey.

Finished raft trip around noon. Got checked in my motel and then headed to Dubois, WY, across Togwotee Pass. This was the first views I had of the Grand Tetons. They were breathtaking and the pictures just do not do them justice!

"Yellowstone"
This was our last major stop on our 7500 mile trip in 2007. And what a stop it was!!!
It is really a toss-up as to which was more fascinating in Yellowstone-the awesome sight of the ground bubbling and steaming, or the terrific variety of Wildlife. EVERY American should see this national treasure!
"Togwotee Pass"
As we left Yellowstone, we were on a course that would take us diagnolly across the state- Northwest to Southeast.
In doing so, we traveled 287 across Togowatee Pass an elevation of almost 10,000 ft. Remember, this was in June. For my fellow Southerners, while you sweltered in near one hundred degree heat, our Suburban read a cool thirty degrees!! We stopped in ankle deep snow, and my daughters built a three foot snowman in no more than 20 minutes!
But it was unusually cool that June anyway. Once we reached San Diego, traveled North to portland, then across to Wyoming , we never saw above seventy degrees until we got back as far as Nebraska!!
