I was down in Gillette last year. Those coals seams are quite impressive! Does the Powder River Basin run up to Sheridan?

I'm not from Sheridan yet, but I hope to be someday. I'd love to hear about the area. A specific question I have right now is whether it's very windy there. I'm always wondering about how cold it is in WY, but I recently heard too that around Laramie it's very windy all the time, enough to make you crazy! Is Sheridan like that too? Thanks for any info!

Travel Tips for Sheridan
Packing List

Any kind of stay here in Sheridan. It has been known to snow in mid June. It don't lay, but can be cold enough to do so. Always bring clothing to dress warm should the occassion arrise. It has been 80 one day and 30 the next. July and August isn't bad. It stays warm. Be prepared for changing weather. They have a saying here in Sheridan, and elsewhere in Wyoming. If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes. This has proven true. I have seen it clear blue skies and 15 minutes later be extremely cloudy, wind blowing, and whateverelse the storm is bringing in. Main thing is to have a jacket. Camping??? Better have an extra sleeping bag. The mountains is bitterly cold around 5am. Plus you want to be prepared for a quick change in weather. Take a raincoat also in case you plan to hike. Take a radio for weather info.

It's a ancient stone ruin located on hwy 14 in the Bighorn Mtns about 1 1/2 hours west from Sheridan. The function and builders remain unknown to this day. It's generally thought that Native Americans built it around 200 years ago. It remains a sacred site to this day.
