More about Snake River Lodge and Spa (7710 Granite Loop Road.)

very nice

by TripAdvisor Member Alaska2005

stayed at the Snake River Lodge and it was very nice. The location is great and the staff is very warm and welcoming! As a previous guest stated the rooms were TINY! We also could not open a suitcase! And the Spa is soooo overpriced! Otherwise, the room was clean and the hotel has alot of charm. Breakfast is also very expensive if it is not included in your package. Go to the Bunnery in Jackson. It is worth the drive.

Wonderful Experience

by TripAdvisor Member grumpymakesmehappy

My family and I recently returned from our vaction in Jackson. We stayed at the Snake River Lodge from Jan. 5-11th. As soon as we arrived we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom/2 bath suite with a fireplace, dining area, and kitchen. The bathrooms and kitchen were granite and the overall feel of the suite was warm and homey. We had a large sofa and two large chairs in our living area. This was our first experience with an upgrade and we were highly pleased. Both the hotel and the surrounding area were beautiful. The maid service was unparrell to any we have experienced and we have traveled extensively in the US and Europe. The staff was warm and gracious. The only 2 complaints that I would have about the hotel involve the concierge and a server at the breakfast buffet. I found Spence the concierge to be unhelpful and snobbish. The other concierges on duty were always friendly and helpful. Even the bell boy was extremely friendly and offered more help than Spence. It was always like you were inconvienceing him, and he knew little about the area!?!? My other complaint deals with the service at the moring buffet. All in all, the servers were nice except for this one waitress who would actually sigh loudly when you asked her for something. There are no words to describe the beauty of this area or this hotel. Jackson Hole is truly an amazing place. We went to celebrate my fathers 50th birthday and we have wonderful memories of our time in Jackson. I have several suggestions for things to do in Jackson. We highly recommend Triangle C Ranch for their snowcoach tours of Yellowstone. Our guide Rocky O'Neal was one of the best guides we have had on an excurcion. We were in total comfort and he met every need we had on the trip from information about the area to hot coco and coffee when we were thirsty. He would literaly pull over on the side of the road in Yellowstone and pour us something to drink. We can't sing his praise enough. We also enjoyed a snowmobile ride to the Granit Hot Springs with Jackson Snowmobile Co. There prices were some of the best we found and they treated us great. We are unskilled skiers and we decided to try the Ski School at Jackson Hole. As previous experience skiing was in ST. Anton, Austria and it was brutal! The ski school at Jackson was wonderful. The staff we had were friendly and quite helpful. We actually learned to ski! We are even planning on going back next Jan! It was so much fun. As far as dinner plans and restaurants go, we loved Calicos. The prices were good and so was the food. We were also impressed by Bubbas. It's a local favorite in Jackson. The barbque was good but it just doesn't touch what we have here in Memphis! Mangy Moose was o.k. We weren't all that impressed with the food but the atmosphere was great. We ate at the Snake River Grille one night. It is a really NICE restaurant with a casual dress code...like everything else in Jackson. It was the most expensive restaurant we have ever eaten at. Expect to pay 38.00 for a steak! As high as the food is, you would expect ample serving of tastful food. No, do not expect this here. The food was not at all appealing and the servings were insulting to a Southerner! Please, by pass this restuarant. Eat at the Gamefish. One thing we found out is that Jackson is not a cheap place and it is not a cheap vacation for a family of 4. We are going back but we will be doing things differently next time. Jackson has some great small hotel in town that are 3 times as cheap as the ones in Teton Village plus they offer free bus service to the village. We will stay somwhere like to Antler Inn for 100 a night compared to the Snake River Lodge for 409 a night. Plus we will have free shuttle service compared to 3 dollars person to go into town on the Start Bus and 3 dollars a person to get back to the village. We loved our time at the SRL and will truly hold it dear. However, if you are looking at a more economical vaction like we will be next time. The hotels in town are great. The luxury is not there like with the SRL but the location and prices are. We found out the locals really recommend the Jackson hotels and looking at them on the internet they look fine to us. If you want luxury atay at the SRL and let them pamper you silly. You will love it. IF you are looking for the best deal stay in town. That is where everything except the skiing is!

Excellent Accomadations, Unbeatable Location

by TripAdvisor Member Swecker

Our 4 night stay in December of 2004 was unbelievable. Our group had a total of 3 rooms and all were as advertised, clean comfortable, well appointed and LOTS of towels!! The people who have been terribly critical must have standards that can never be met, as I have stayed in the best hotels in america and this ranks up there with some of the best. If you are choosing between the Alpenhof and Four Seasons note that they are literally next door. The guys in the ski locker room are GREAT!!! Email me at collier@auburnlawoffice.com if you have any questions.
