Great Malabia House!
The staff is beyond friendly, the location is perfect, at the best area of Palermo Viejo, the rooms are cozy, the building is charming. The ideal atmosphere for a couple. I strongly reccommend it!

Malabia house is certainly a "home-from-home" with such friendly and accomodating staff
The historical house is full of magic
Unique Quality: House, Staff and neighboor
As soon as you enter, the staff goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable. They are very willing to offer recommendations and book anything you may need. The rooms and common areas are very clean. Furnishings are nice, and the linens are luxurious.
The breakfast buffet is great! They offer a multitude of choices - including eggs or omelets made to order if you prefer. You don't have to worry about rushing to breakfast by a certain time. They will serve you whenever you're ready to eat. The communal table was a great way to meet fellow travelers from all over the world.
My only complaint is the noise level. Because the ceilings are high, and the interior is pretty open, you can hear everything that goes on in the building, even if your room is at the back. I had a superior room with a bathroom inside my room. For the rate of $140 + tax per night, I thought it was a little overpriced, since the bathroom was tiny and there was only a shower.
I would recommend this b&b to anyone who's looking for a warm, friendly atmosphere in the Palermo Soho neighborhood.
Unique Quality: Location of the b&b was great. Palermo Soho is literally at your doorstep. The building is pretty, with a great little garden and beautiful skylights.

We stayed four nights and found the service excellent and the room very comfortable. We had en suite accomidations. Some rooms aren't however the fascilities we very near the rooms and it didn't look like a great inconvenience.
We would stay there again...good location to restaurants, interesting part of B.A. and very helpful staff.
We have just stayed 5 nights at 1555 Malabia house. The location is really good with many cafes and good restaurants nearby. We always felt safe in the Palermo neighborhood. The rooms at Malabia House are interesting, small but clean with very good beds. Management has done a superb job in chosing the young, enthusiastic staff who are always there to help with whatever your needs. If we go back to BA we would stay at Malabia House. One tip - they will give substantial discounts if you pay in cash. I think we saved around 20 % off our bill.
I stayed at 1555 Malabia House for two nights, at the start and at the end of a month-long trip. The staff were SO helpful and lovely that I can't thank them enough for making my stay so enjoyable. I loved the unique designs around the house - very individual and unique. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Though my wife and I stayed at this B&B quite a long time ago, I find the same owner-manager still runs it now, which I think allows me to write here about it because their excellent hospitality comes mostly out of his keen business sense and charming personality.
The staff were very kind and friendly with a personal touch. They tried their best to help us enjoy our stay not in a businesslike manner but as if we were friends. But don't worry. They never poked their nose into our own business; if we wanted them to leave us alone, they left us alone. They were good at keeping the optimum distance. Their hospitality was one of a kind.
In case literature lovers don't know, the B&B is located within walking distance of the neighborhood that Jorge Luis Borges mentioned in some of his poems. Plaza Cortazar, which is a few blocks away, was named so in honor of the writer of Hopscotch.
Staying at Malabia House surely made our trip in Buenos Aires unique, delightful and unforgettable.
we went on our honeymoon for a couple of nights and we loved it! the staff was very nice, friendly and knowledgable at any hour of the day or night. The location was great! walking distance to restaurants, bars, shopping, and the subte.
the actual house is very clean and breakfast is the best place to meet the people staying there.
we highly highly recommend it!
Exceeded my expectations. The house is in a good location near shops, bars and restaurants but in a quiet street. The staff were amazing, rebooking our next hotel to somewhere more suitable for our needs. This took a lot of time and they got it spot on. The communal breakfast table is a great way to hear others travel experiences and stories. I would recommend highly to anyone staying in Buenos Aires but particularly the English speakers as the staff and clientele all spoke excellent English.
The staff was incredibily helpful. All of their recommendations were great. The rooms are clean and homey. Be sure to ask for a private bath. They serve you coffee/tea and cookies when you arrive. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.
Looking for hotel/hostel recommendations in Palermo Viejo?
me too, but I'd prefer a hotel if anyone can advise.
I stayed at Tango Backpacker's because I couldn't get a room in the highly recommended Como en Casa nearby. Tango was fine but next time I'll call Como a little further ahead: (54-11-4831-0517)
With a bit of extra cash, go to Malabia House. It's FAB!!
For something cheaper check out el firulete...both are in great locations close to whatever you need
Cheers, I've seen Malabia House recommended before.
thanks for all the info!!
There is also the Bobo Hotel. I think there are only eight rooms in the hotel, but each room has it's own theme. You would be five minutes walking distance from Honduras Street (Honduras is to Palermo Soho what Broadway is to Manhattan--it's where alot of the action is at), so the location is good. And you'd be about 15 minutes walking distance from the Buenos Aires zoo and from there just a few more blocks to the Palermo Parks.
Oh yeah, I would recommend Bo Bo. Its lovely and has a ncie restaurant and lunch menu and the rooms are great!
Thanks I'll check out Bobo
