Re: buying a Wedding Dress from Milano

Why are you asking this question on the Buenos Aires forum? Why not on the Milan forum?
Assuming that your are from BA, why don't you buy or have one made here? Granted, like anything else, if it's made in Argentina, will fall apart, but you're only planning to wear it once; aren't you? Find pictures of Italian wedding gowns and have a copy made in BA.
What will Customs charge you when you bring the dress to Argentina? What if the airline looses the suitcase with the dress? What will the dress cost? In Milan, it will be priced in Euros. HELP!!!!

" (...) Granted, like anything else, if it's made in Argentina, will fall apart"

That -im afraid to tell you- its because you have no idea where to buy good stuff here in Argentina... Something is telling me you are north-american? ;)

Will fall apart????????????????? Where the heck are you buying your clothes? As in any city you can get poor quality clothes in BA, but there are LOADS of quality shops here. You're such an as**** for making such a stupid comment!

Travel Tips for Buenos Aires

Numerous Statues

by Bwana_Brown

There are a number of statues scattered around Buenos Aires, although the green parklands of the Palermo district seem to have more than their fair share! The statues cover a wide variety of subjects such as local heroes San Martin, Mendoza and Moreno; foreign icons Shakespeare and George Washington; local celebrity Carlos Gardel or such diverse things as a Lion, the Thinker, Don Quixote and numerous ones dedicated to Lovers. The most unusual statue that we came across was this one in the once-abandoned Botanical Gardens (presently being rejuvenated). This 1909 bronze statue presented quite a realistic scene of Roman debauchery resulting from their annual festival in honour of the God 'Saturn' !

Protest everywhere...

by mannymiami

Where ever theres a government building there is always a person protesting against the government. These here are squatters protesting against the government. I give alot of credit to these folks that sleep here and have to put up with the elements just to protest against something that they believe in...

Polo in Palermo

by LondonChris

November & December are the best months to watch. I was lucky enough to see the final in December.
Tickets only need to be purchased in advance for the final, but they can be bought outside for a high price.

High end

by Maggies about Recoleta

You can find the most exclusive shops in Recoleta. Especially avenida Alvear and 2 pararell streets on its both sides are the best if you look for luxury and expensive stores. Still, comparing to Europe, the prices are lower here.
This is also a place of beautiful architecture so you can admire the building and do some window shopping at one time.

irish pubs in buenos aires

by funzsolo about Kilkenny's - Irish bar

kilkennys - nothing irish about it except the over priced guiness. this place attracts a real mixed bag check it out if you have to. (located in a seedy and increasingly dangerous area ) druids across the street is not much of a place and matias down past cordoba is good on sunday night.( all located on reconquista )
the temple bar is a hip place for a few drinks and is good late in the week. they pour a good pint and overall is a much nicer place then the others (slow most nights)
shamrock bar up on arenales/ rodriquiez pena good happy hour bar and on thursdays. nothing irish about the place but it is a popular hip place w/ dancing in basement.
jack the rippers ( english style ) on monteviedo and has good tunes.

clover bar off de mayo / piedras is a ok little dive bar w/ lively happy hour. dead at night !
sullivans in palermo soho is an ok place to grab a drink just off the zoo atmosphere of plaza serano. changed alot since i was here last . get ready to listen to non stop madonna, queen, techno . this will be the first gay-irish pub in b.a. soon (most expensive guiness in town 18 pesos )
dubliners in palermo hollywood is a favorite of mine for a quiet drink ( across the street is a place call morelia serves excellent pizza) low key but overall a chill little place done up nice . u-2 is the music of choice live band friday (celtic )
basically there are no irish bars in thestereotypical sense here in buenos aires but more bars w/ an irish flavor . if you really want to check out a true gem of a pub in the traditional sense go to bangalore on humbolt/niceto out in palermo hollywood. this place is a real find with simple decor ( paintings on the wall and not the typical bar nostaglia ) its warm and cool, plays great music, serves the best pints and overall is a pub in the truest form ( not irish or english just a pub ) . next door is carnal (hip popular bar jammin bob marley ) for dance across the street is niceto ( club 69 on thurs ) across the street berlins. not all r open everyday.

happy hang overs none
