A nice place in a nice location

My wife and I stayed here for four nights. The desk clerks and staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms have kitchenettes and a safe to keep valuables in. The hotel is literally a stone's throw away from Recoleta Cemetery(Eva Peron and her family are encrypted here). There is also a convenience store two doors down from the hotel. For homesick Americans, a McDonald's is nearby but there are plenty of restaurants(most serving Argentine steaks).

Unique Quality: Ayres de Recoleta has a sauna, a workout room, a small pool, and two computers with free internet. Breakfast is not served at the hotel but a voucher is available at the desk to use at a restaurant a couple blocks away(Cereal, fruit salad, croissants, juice, coffee)

Need help!! BA hotels and location

by arunrm

I'll be in Buenos Aires from March 22nd to March 27th (5 days) and I am still researching different areas and hotels in Buenos Aires.

I am looking for a hotel in a safe neighbourhood that is not very far from attractions, shopping etc. From my research and reading other VT pages it looks like Recoleta, Plamero, Downtown etc. are good areas. I was looking at the following hotels but they seem to be sold out for the period I am interested in,

Hotel Bel Air
Art Hotel, Azcuenaga
Ayres De Recoleta Hotel

My budget is around US $100 (including taxes). If anyone can recommend a good hotel and how I can find good rates (website, travel agent etc.) that would be great.

Thanks a bunch
-Ar

Hi,
Have you tried calling those hotels directly? I checked the Ayres for you and they have rooms except for one night for your time period on Expedia. Sometimes, the online booking services do not reflect hotel availability correctly. If you have, then try the Kempinski hotels(3 of them), Loisuites ARenales(Retiro).
Suerte!!

Its slightly more than you say you can afford but try the De Las America's hotel http://www.goargentina.net/hotels/buenosaires/delasamericas/index.shtml. I stayed there in November and it is suited for getting to most places.

If you want my personal take on the hotel, then check my post http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/24c4e/17875d/3/

A pretty good hotel I think is one called the Hotel Bisonte Palace and you can find their website by doing a basic internet websearch.

If your budget is $100 a night you should be able to find almost a 5 star hotel. BA is cheap for those with dollars now. Baad for the people but what c an you do. When I was in BA 11 years ago it was not cheap. I stayed in a one star hotel for $60 a night that now would probably go for $20.

I would advise you go to sidestep.com and decide from there.
