    Ayacucho Palace Hotel: Recoleta location
  • Tip Rating:
  • This place definitely served my needs just fine. The reception desk was staffed by a mixture of middle aged, Spanish speakers and some younger college aged Portenos who loved to practice their English. Everyone was very helpful and willing to give restaurant suggestions and other advice. There is a small cafe right next door that has internet access and free breakfast for hotel guests.

My room was small, but fine. Cable TV was included and the large bed (which took up most of the floor space) was comfortable and clean. Maid service was impeccable and the bathroom had a roomy, hot shower and a toilet and bidet. No complaints from me.

I even had them launder a few items and was surprised at how inexpensive it was.

Hotel Maipu, Buenos Aires: Like a step back in time
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • This is an older hotel with friendly help. The place reminded me of a slightly run-down luxury hotel of the '30's or '40's. Marble columns and floors with an almost cathedral like smell. The room I stayed in was a decent size with high ceilings and a private bathroom. It was really nothing fancy but it had a lot more character than most places available. I was considering going back to the always full V&S hostel down the street, but this place was quiet and enjoyable for the price ($16-$24 US)

Americas Towers: A comfortable hotel that is very nicely located   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Americas Towers is on the corner of Libertad and Santa Fe quite close to Julio 9 Avenue and a lots of other points of interest in Buenos Aires.
The location is very convenient and as the city is arranged in grids, it is very easy to get around everywhere.
there are two or three very good cafe's within a stone's throw away.
The rooms are somewhat small, but it did not matter as I was staying alone and the fitness center is very bare-boned.
However the hotel staff is very friendly and the breakfast is good.

    The location is very good.
Very close to downtown, the obelisk and the Colon theater.

Park Elegance Kempinski Hotel: Comfortable, great service   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • My partner and I stayed at this hotel last March - and I must say we were very pleased with the experience... First of all, the rate was a total deal - we got 7 nights for the price of 5 under one of their packages, with breakfast and transfers back to the Ezeiza airport included. Room rates started at $58 (US dollars) a night (plus VAT) at the time and have remained stable.

The room was comfortable and very, very clean. The amenities are probably what you'd get in a 3+ stars hotel in the US. There's a mini fridge in the room with various drinks in it (which you can actually empty out and use to cool your own drinks bought outside, which would be cheaper). Our room was on the backside of the hotel so it was also very quiet (street rooms may be more noisy). The marble bathroom was very well appointed, if a bit small, and the amenities were first class.

The restaurant downstairs is ok, but nothing to write home about. Definitely better to go out for a meal, although the buffet breakfast (included in the rate) will get you going for your morning of sightseeing.

Service was great, young crowd at the front desk, all spoke english and very helpful.

The location was central in relation to Recoleta - however a bit more of a hike to the downtown attractions (Plaza de Mayo, etc). The subway D line has a stop about 5 blocks away though (Pueyrredon station, at Avenida Santa Fe). It's more of a local neighborhood, so there's plenty of little shops reasonably priced (convenience store in the corner, laundry around the corner, pharmacy across the street, etc)

All in all a good location if you don't mind being a few blocks out of downtown

Service was great, a 3 block walk to the Recoleta cemetery and all its restaurants, bars, movie theatres, etc. Local color.

Buenos Aires Wilton Palace Hotel: Clean, centrally located and decently priced   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • The Wilton Hotel is a clean, centrally located four-star hotel in the Recoleta neighborhood. Deals can be found on the Internet, especially during the off-season. The staff is friendly and the breakfast (included in the price) is very good. There are many dining options nearby. The rooms are nice, but if you're expecting luxury you will be dissappointed.
