Argentina vacation

by consideritdone3

We are planning a vacation to Argentina but don't know the best month to go. We are retired so anytime is fine with us. We would like to travel when it is nice and warm but not too crowded with tourist. Thank you for your information.

November is ideal - late Spring, still pre-high holiday season, warm but not too hot, great sightseeing weather, BA awash with jacarandas in flower. Still a bit chilly in the far south but nothing that requires more than a warm jacket, a pair of gloves and a woolly hat. We spent 5 weeks in Argentina and Chile starting on October 24 and arriving home on December 1, had a wonderful time and perfect weather the whole time.

I agree with both, November is a great month to come to Argentina; during that month you have a warm and fresh weather so you can be outdoors without a lot of clothes. The tourist places of Argentina are much crowded at the beginning of the summer (January), and also at the beginning of autumn (mid-march), however during the end of the winter and until Holy week, is high season, in most of the southern places of Argentina (El Calafate, El Chalten, Bariloche) which means that everything is more expensive, and that transport and hotel, need to book with advance.

Let me know if you need more info about Argentina!

September - December is great. Lots of nice warm spring weather. The local tourist markets kicks into gear in from end of December to March. Thats when many tourist places become very busy, especially the coast in January. So before that you can enjoy the tourist places at your leisure.

I´d recommend September to November. If December is your choice, then try to avoid the Xmas-New year period, since it's the beginning of the high season (and of the high tempeatures and high prices in tourism terms). If it's too late for you to plan, then leave it for March-April. After Easter it's start getting colder, but Autumn is mild.

Travel Tips for Buenos Aires

Package trip to South America

by Dabs

We booked our trip using Go Today and I was extremely pleased with just about everything regarding the trip. The package included our airfare to South America, our flights while in South America, hotels and transfers, the prices were very reasonable considering how much we got.

The flight to Rio was straight from Chicago to Sao Paulo, then to Rio and from Buenos Aires straight to Chicago, all on United. I couldn't have asked for better flight connections and to leave from Chicago it was only an additional $50 per person.

There are multiple levels of hotels, we decided not to go with the budget option and instead selected one of the middle levels, we were generally pleased with the location of the hotels and the quality of the hotels.

The transfer service was excellent, the drivers were always on time at the airport and picking us back up for the return trip. In Iguazu Falls, our driver also offered guided services but the prices were a bit steep and we found our own transportation.

Iglesia del Pilar

by sof76

This church is called Iglesia Nuestra Se?ora del Pilar and it's located in Recoleta.
It used to be white and yellow, but they painted all in white some years ago..
In my opinion, it was nicer before...

Esta Iglesia se llama Iglesia Nuestra Se?ora del Pilar y queda en Recoleta.
Solia ser blanca y amarilla, pero la pintaron de blanco hace algunos a?os. En mi opinion, quedaba mas linda antes...

Tango is a musical style, a sexy dance, a popular culture, a philosophy... This rhythm was born in the 19th century by Rio de la Plata, at the underworld; nowadays, its music is known all over the world.

cicerones

by iam1wthee

A cicerone is a nonprofit agency spearheaded by the government to have locals who love the country show tourists and advise tourist on what to do and see in Buenos Aires. They try to match you up with someone of similar interest as you. Fill out the profile and they may take a week or two before contacting you.

Moon Guide. Best guide book.

by cjg1 about Books

The best guide book for this town I believe is the Moon guide. It is well written. Up to date. And gives enough history and information to make you feel like you know what you're doing even if you can not get with one of the many great VTers here in town.
