getting from Pistarini to Jorge Newbery in BA in time?

by sbsara

Hi, I just realized that when my mom and I reversed our travel plans that we aren't transferring flights in the same airport! We are coming back from El Calafate and transferring in Buenos Aires to head to Iguazu. Well our first flight leaves from Pistarini and arrives back in BA to Jorge Newbery... and then 2 hrs later we leave from Pistarini for Iguazu. With only a 2 hr layover is there anyway we'd make from airport to the other in time via taxi?

Thanks for your help. If need be we'll probably spend the night in BA and then leave for Iguazu early the next morning (change our flight).

If you are right (in my opinion almost all domestic flights are from Jorge Newbery Aeroparque) I don't think you will manage to be on time.
Driving time is about 45 - 60 minutes, traffic depending. But your plane has to be on time and you will have to pick up your luggage.

happy travels

sorry, it just isn't possible. Besides the distance, check in lines etc etc
Staying in BA overnight is the only option

Are you sure that you are flying to Igauzu from Pistarini(EZE). I don't know of any flights from there to Iguazu unless the downtown airport(AEP) is closed.

Travel Tips for Buenos Aires

La Boca 'Caminito'

by mannymiami

La Boca 'Caminito' I will always remember that ice cold day in June when my buddy and I went to La Boca district, on a cloudy grey day everything was just colorful and bright. When in Buenos Aires this place is a must. Here you can see tango dancers in the streets and it is also the first Italian neighborhood in Buenos Aires. Checkout my travelouge with my pictures from La Boca.

Unmarried Portenas with Children

by bilgeez

Sample group is Fiancee Connections Gallery of Ladies Personal bios info.
What I found in this survery are that of unmarried women in Buenos Aires, that very few younger women have children and even that less than half of the older single women have children.
Total sample: 640
Women with children: 124
Percentage of total with children:19.4
Women 23 and under:417
Women 23 and under with children: 22
Percentage of women 23 and under with children: 5.27
Percentage of women 23 and under with children of total: 3.44
Women 24 and over: 223
Women 24 and over with children: 102
Percentage of women 24 and over with children: 45.7
Percentage of women over 24 with children in whole group: 15.9
I was surprised this percentage was so low, but then, Argentina is a largely Catholic country, and moral standards are very high.
Amazingly, in contrast, unmarried Ukrainian women have even lower levels of having children. A country where most people don't admit to being very religiously oriented, divorce rate is high and promiscuity is not aggressively discouraged.
Sample group is Confidential Connections Gallery of Ladies Personal bios.
Total sample group:2033
Total group with children: 864
Percent of total with children: 42.5
group age 23 and younger: 408
age 23 and younger with children: 9
percent of group age 23 and younger with children: 2.2
Percent of age group 23 and younger with children compared to total group: 0.44
Total sample age group 24 and above: 1625
Percentage of age group 24 and above with children: 52.65
Percentage of age group 24 and above with children compared to total group: 42.05
Incidents of women under 23 with children is almost non-existant. I found no women under 20 with children in the sample group.
I know in Slavic cultures women are taught to be more demure and not be aggressive toward men than in Latin cultures.

Watch Argentine Football!

by namidub

Reserve your sundays or maybe sometimes Wed to go watch a football (futbol) match.
Exact kick-off times will be available only a week before the match.

If possible go for Boca or River match or even better Boca and River head to head.
Safety-wise dont go on ur own especially at POPULAR terraces (cheapest tickets - very hardcore fans) unless u've a local friend to bring you.

Club Atletico Boca Juniors (CABJ) http://www.bocajuniors.com.ar
Stadium - La Bombonera (La Boca)

Club Atletico River Plate (CARP) http://www.riverplate.com.ar/
Stadium - El Monumental (Nunez)

ticket prices varies with seat locations in the stadium
Most expensive (and safest) about 50 pesos

If convenience is your concern, contact agency that pick up from the hotel cheer for the team with a guide inside the stadium and send u back to where uve come from.www.gofootball.com.ar is one of them.Price approx 100 pesos depends on the match Wear the home shirt or colours representing the club if not, pick neutral colors.
Never wear the away team's strip or colors of theirs. You'll invite some trouble.
Some might claim its a matter of life n death!

Bring nothing of expensive looking item to the stadium.
e.g fancy watches,jewellery.

Leather Factory Outlets

by TexasDave

This is a little off the main tourist scene, but within 4 city blocks there is a concentration of more than two dozen stores claiming to be factory outlets (some are not), but it makes it much easier to shop and compare before you buy. With the leather coat I bought they included altering the length of the sleeves for free- I just had to wait about 45 minutes while it got sent back to the factory.

Gay Milongas

by Eversince about Tango shows - Tango places

One of the greatest experiences I had while in BA was attending one of those gay milongas. I hired a tour with 2 portenios (www.2portenios.com) to be introduced to tango for the first time ever.
As soon as we got there a man came to us to invite us to take some tango lessons, basics steps. There were a bunch of guys already following the instructions of the teacher. Soon, after joining the class, I realised the place was almost full, all tables around the main class floor were occupied by gay/straight couples waiting for the class to be finished. Once the class was over the real milonga started. Many of those people sitting, started to dance very professionaly. It was a real tango show performed by common people. A pleasure for me to enjoy this laid back, gay/straight mix ambience.
I also enjoyed seeing people inviting others to go out for a dance as used years ago.
I cannot say I became a professional dancer after learning a few steps but I felt very proud of myself being invited many times to go out for a dance. Great experience! Must to do when visiting BA. No special dress required.
