Buenos Aires probably has more women´s shoe stores than almost any city in the world. There dozens of shoe stores on Av Sante Fe for about a mile from Cerrito. Patio Bullrich is an upscale shopping center on Posadas in Recoleta. Also, check out Palermo Viejo. Lots of shoe stores in this upscale area.

You don't specify what style of boot you are wanting but Rossi y Caruso is one of the oldest and best respected leather shops. Here is a link to their web site
http://www.rossicaruso.com/

On my travel pages here there is also a link to Teran, a young shoe designer who has opened shop in Palermo SoHo and he is capable of custom fashion boots and shoes.

The Mate for the argentinians is like the tea for the british!

we drink it everywhere! at work, at school, at college, at university, in a park, at home, with friends, with work collegues, with family members, we share it with everyone who ask for it!

the mate is hot beverage that is serve using a mate (the cup that we use for drinking mate hs the same name that the recipient) and you use a straw. to drink. You fill the mate with yerba mate and some sugar and then you add hot water ( needs to be below boling point)

It's really common that when you meet someone to your house in the afternoon you invite the person for drink MATE and some "biscochitos" ( kind of salad biscuits) or any other sweet biscuit

If someone offers you to drink a mate, don't refuse, Argentinians may think you are being rude, they might think you don't want to drink it because you don't want to share the straw... Anything won't happen to you if you drink just a little :P

Some people say that you should drink MATE if you want to waste some pounds because you don't get hungry! And also if you are studing and you are falling asleep you can drink MATE and it will help you to don't get sleep :P

You didn't come to Argentina if you haven't taste a MATE!

A bird who knows all....

by wadekorzan

Something interesting to look for on the streets of San Telmo on a Sunday is the man in the picture--or one like him. With him he has sort of an organ, like a barrel organ, and on top of it, a cage with a small parakeet inside. The man pays the organ, then lets the bird out of its cage, opens the drawer and the bird picks out your fortune. All of tis for a small tip, of course. This is something that used to be more common on city streets of Buenos Aires, a custom brought over from Europe, and one that is now fading away. If you're lucky, you'll see it in San Telmo. It's pretty neat!

BUENOS AIRES : BEAUTIFUL BUILDINGS

by swesn

There are numerous beautiful buildings around the centre of Buenos Aires. Don't be like the usual city people who hurry past everything in haste without taking note of anything. Take time to admire your surroundings.

A recommended building to watch out for is the Aguas Argentina (Water Department of Argentina) which is along Avenida Cordoba. I read from a book by Borges that this is actually just a WATER TANK!!! Incredible!
