Feria de Plaza Francia

"Playground"
Plaza Francia is another site of a popular feria held on Sundays. You can get all kinds of good souvenirs here. It's pretty touristy, but still not as much as Plaza Dorrego in San Telmo. There are often musicians and other performers. Find the guys selling churros (sticks of fried dough, my favorites are the ones filled with dulce de leche), and they're pretty cheap.
In this picture, we're on the playground. No, I'm not on the see-saw with that little girl.
"Capoeira"
Also in Plaza Francia, you can catch capoeira being practiced. This is an Afro-Brazilian martial arts technique that slaves disguised as a dance in order to keep it hidden. The movements are complex, and it's very impressive to watch. A lot of these people are students at a capoeira school, and some are pretty advanced. The whole exercise is conducted without either of the two "fighters" touching, and it's all set to music and clapping. It's definitely worth watching for a while.

We're planning to stay at the Hotel Plaza Francia in Recoleta the first two weeks of November. Do any of you have any comments on that hotel?

Thanks SAM,
We've actually read some reviews on the web and that's what helped us decide on the Plaza Francia but we were just looking for a little more input from another forum. It's located at the corner of E. Schiaffino and Avenida del Libertador.
