InterContinental Hotel Buenos Aires: The Best place to stay in the city
Satisfaction:
By MassiDeCarolis on August 21, 2006
The facilites, the staff & especially the concierge are the most helpful in this city. I have visited Buenos Aires 5 times and only once I didnt stay at the Intercontinental- I will not repeat that mistake again.
the room was great with fine decor, a good view and excellent fascilities. The TV didn't seem to work too well on the one time that we'd tried it but.... who needs TV in Buenos Aires! We stayed, as part of a ore-cruise package, with Princess Cruises. Beware! Our flight from the UK brought us to the hotel at about 2.00pm ---and they weren't ready for us! Sure they offered to store our things for an hour or so.... Also, the hotel processed our arrival in the basement foyer ----and we thought that these staff were Princess Cruise people. So, we missed the opportunity to see some tango etc. that evening because the Princess staff were elsewhere! Do eat at the bistro within the hotel. Tables are hard to get at times. The local food, beer and wine are all good. The restaurant in the courtyard lacked'atmosphere' and it was rather a 'suppose we'd better' attitude from the staff. I asked the concierge for help arranging a taxi with guide for the day so that we could visit the Tigre Delta. $200!!! On the take? Beware!
Beware breakfast en-masse if you are a cruise customer. The main dining room on the first floor (2nd for American readers!) was excellent. The Princess dining in the basement was ... well... the same-ish food with poor service!
