Evita's not the only one in Recoleta
by Randyi66
When you go to the Recoleta Cemetary, take some moments to look not just at the well kept mauseoleums, but at some of the more dilapidated ones as well. It's humbling to look at a site and see a coffin sitting there amongst the falling plaster, spider webs, weather stained walls and unfortunately, public trash that has ended up there over time.
tango is more than just dance
by L-A
Tango is a style of music, song and dance all included. It reminded me of a mix of Latin, jazz and Hungarian gypsy music.
Here is a picture of a local band that was excellent (at Cafe Tortoni)
Ooops I will have to re-scan this photo...
Boca Juniors Stadium: you MUST attend
by cadiana88
Boca Juniors stadium, "La Bombonera" (Chocolate box), is the main football temple in Argentina. You must go, see its excellent team and its superb supporters, "La 12" (The player number 12).
Boca Juniors is the current (2004) World Champion. Buy the best tickets, are cheaper than Europa or USA. Outside the Stadium, be careful, don't speak too much in other languages and don't show cameras. Step out before match ends.
Typical Argentinian Mall
by NYC2TLV about Galerías Pacífico Shopping Mall
While it does have a central location and is one of the popular malls, it really does not stand out for boasting anything really special. The one thing I did like was that there was a Nike shop inside where you can purchase Boca Juniors and Racing shirts that you know are not fakes. There are some other benefits such as Tax Free shops and shops that offer free deliveries, so keep your eye out as you window shop.
If you do go inside the mall, go downstairs and take a look from the food court up at the ceiling. It is pretty nice. Go to the typical Argentinian designer stores because if you live in the northern hemisphere and your season differs from Argentina, you can buy winter/summer clothes on sale!
