Anchorena/Paraguay - Barrio Norte: Recommend BytArgentina for apartment rentals.

We rented our apartment through BytArgentina. They have a huge selection of apartments, all at very reasonable rates. Our apartment was exactly as it was described and the agency was very professional. We would definitely use them again.

It was a one bedroom apartment, fully equipped kitchen, nice furniture, spotlessly clean. One thing that was great was the fact that the bedroom was at the back of the building, overlooking a garden. It was quiet compared to the front of the building, where there was constant traffic.

Hostel: Hostels and cheap hotels in BS AS

I´d like to recommend this Hostel Estoril in Buenos Aires. Staff are great, it has no curfew and it is clean. Yes, unlike most hostels it is clean. The location is also great for people who are visiting BS AS for the first time, close to the national congress on Av de Mayo with easy access to subway and bus lines.

I also stayed at Che Lagarto Hostel whose location is not the best as the area is a bit run-down and looks dangerous though that´s not a problem as I´m from Rio and am used to looking around and being alert in strange places :P Che Lagarto´s atmosphere´s good but it is not neat and clean like Estoril.

And there is Hostel Obelisco which was a horrible experience. It has too many rooms and too few toilets/bathrooms. And it is really a big mess, there were drunk naked guys screaming in the corridors.. (fanfarrones as the argentines would say) quite disgusting.

Azul Residencia Universitaria - Buenos Aires: Beautiful Budget Accomodations

Azul is beautiful! It's not a hostel, as they have minimum stay requirements - more like a student "dorm" that has from 1 week to 1 month minimum stay requirements (depending upon how full they are). The place is really nice - more like a Buenos Aires boutique hotel than a student dormitory (and cheaper than most hostels too).

I liked that each room had only from 1 to 3 beds and each with a full size refrigerator(!). www.azul-residencia-universitaria.com.

Several to choose from: Great new boutique hotels

For those looking for accommodations a step above hostels several new places have opened that offer near hostel prices for really nice rooms. The first is the Costa Rica Hotel http://hotelcostarica.com.ar/eng/
and the next is Che LuLu http://www.luluguesthouse.com/ they also offer apartment rentals which seem to be good deals as well.

Good locations, good prices and comfortable accommodations.

Hotel Blanro: Crazy industrial hotel

I was there couple of days in June 2007. This hotel is just few steps from Subte (name of metro company in Buenos Aires).

In hotel everything looks like before ages. The tresor was there, but didnt work. The lift was there, but didn´t work. The card for opening doors was there, but never works.

And what was the best?

Breakfast: we had all six mornings all the same: croissant with jam
Every day same, only jam was sometime made from orange, sometimes from strawberry.

If you want to enjoy some of this strange feelings, let´s go to Blanro.

DowntownMate Hostel

We had to leave the excellent Garden House hostel after 10 nights as we forgot to extend our reservation, so we spent our last 4 nights in Buenos Aires in the Downtown Mate hostel.

Downtown Mate is in a great location on Calle Rivadavia, in the centre of the city. It was two streets from our Spanish classes, and also very close to Avenida 9 de Julio, the city's main street and a short walk to Plaza de Mayo. Downtown Mate was a friendly place, and there was a kitchen which we could use, and we also met some friendly people here.

However, the hostel was nowhere near as comfortable or as clean as our previous hostel. The rooms in particular were poor while the shared toilets and showers weren't very clean. At 60 pesos for a double it was reasonably cheap, but it's not a place I'd stay in again unless I was stuck.

Garden House Hostel

For our first 10 nights in Buenos Aires, we stayed in Garden House hostel, a very friendly place in the San Telmo district. The people running the hostel are very welcoming and we were sorry to leave the hostel at the end as it was really starting to feel like home. We met some great people at Garden House, many of whom had already travelled to places we had yet to see in Argentina and South America, so it was very helpful for our trip planning.

The hostel has 2 dorms and six twin/private rooms. None of the rooms are ensuite though there are toilets on each floor and they are kept very clean. Breakfast is included in the price of the room and the hostel also organises weekly pizza nights and asados (barbecues), which are a good way to meet other people. The kitchen is free to use as is the computer, while the hostel can organise activities like tango lessons, Spanish classes or football trips.

The location in the beautiful San Telmo neighbourhood is good, though it´s on the west side of Avenido 9 July which means the main sights of San Telmo are about 10 minutes walk away. However, the area is safe and there are supermarkets, shops, bars and restaurants nearby. I´d strongly recommend Garden House to anyone looking for a cheap, reliable and friendly place to stay in BA.

Hostels

Yira Yira Guest House: Great Accomodation in Recoleta

Stayed for a week to explore Bs As... Yira Yira was incredibly cute, cozy, clean, modern, well-heated, comfortable. And well situated (2 blocks from Tribunales on the subte), walking distance from the centro and cool sites along Avenida Santa Fe. A great deal at $15/night (for shared rooms). Wi-Fi in every room and a mac-friendly environment.

This is great for [grad] students and adventurers/explorers of the world.

Great location. Web and computer savvy guest house. Clean.

Hotel Lion d'Or: Hotel Lion d'Or - "Step into the past"

2002 - In 2002 we visited Buenos Aires for about a week. Triggered by the descripition in the Lonely Planet Guide ("Step into the past") by booked this budget hotel.
Though budget, we were booked into a magnificent room. A huge room with private bathroom in the front of the hotel, with a balcony and heigh ceilings. We kind of felt like staying like in the grandeur of the early years. It was great!!!!

Staff was very helpfull!

The fact that the hotel doesn't service dinner, let alone lunch or breakfast, is no problem at all!!
The fact that there are plenty of restaurants, pastry-shops, café's and supermarkets in the vicinity makes up for it!

About the vicinity: it's so incredibly near to the center of Recoleta, with its famous reastaurants, café's, shopping mall, the Design Centro and of course the Recoleta Cementarry.

2007 - This year we will be visiting Buenos Aires again; now with our 3 children and we will be staying again in Hotel Lion d'Or. We think that the park facing the Recoleta Cementary and Design Center will be a terrific place for our kids to play and enjoy the city.

It's stylefull rooms,
The helpfull staff,
The splendid location,

Palermo Apartments Buenos Aires: Buenos Aires Apartment for Rent in Buenos Aires

We are a married couple from Barcelona (Spain). We planned a month stay at Buenos Aires with another married couple, good friends of us. The apartment we'd booked was occupied when we arrived to the city and we had to look for another furnished apartment to rent, as it is our preferred way to stay in the cities we visit. We decided to change the accommodation company as we no longer trust the one we booked.

My wife knew Palermo Apartments as her sister has spent lovely holidays in Buenos Aires staying in one of Palermo Apartments Buenos Aires. We were lucky to find one of the apartments available ton rent it.

It is a charming and elegant place to stay. Jeanette Bouzon checked in & out us, she is the designer who decorated the apartment. We spent a great time in Buenos Aires (learning tango, visiting museums, going to lovely restaurants and shopping a lot). The apartment was the perfect place to stay as we had all we needed: internet for one of our friends, a big Palermo shopping was very close to the apartment (our wives visited it many times), there was a tube station and lots of buses to go to many interesting places.

We deeply recommend this apartment and we found all the details at www.palermoapartment.com.ar. We will repeat with them next year.

The apartment we stayed had jacuzzi, plasma tv, dvd, Wi-fi high speed Internet connection and was very well decorated.
