Stayed 4 nights with my wife and we enjoyed every day of it.
It is the place to stay if you like old fashioned atmosphere, travelling on a romantic trip and wish to learn a few steps of Tango. Rooms are charming if you like the old style, somewhat kitsch with the wall paintings but still charming. Lot's of little details used in the decoration, so worth to walk along its corridors and staircases. Price also covers airport transfer both ways.
Breakfast is a buffet style; not the level of North American or Scandinavian buffet but wider selection then you would get in France (not refering to 5 stat business hotels, but the basic you may expect). Lot of sweet stuff (cakes, muffins etc) but also some ham and cheese to go with you toast.
San Telmo area is not the fanciest of the city but it has it character, and just a few blocks away are some excellent steak places to enjoy the local food.
Unique Quality: Daily tango class is included in the room price. Tango Academy in the same building and also next door there are Milongas some evenings. Free entrance for hotel guests, if you feel confident enough to show your skills.
On the other hand there are open group lessons every night. So if you prefer another hotel (more modern business hotel, or cheaper hostel) you can come here just for the lesson and pay about 15 pesos for participating the class.

The best - rooms, restaurant, and a milonga in one spot. Recently refurbished, so it is clean and well planned. When I walked into the lobby, I was greeted by live Tango music! This is a beautiful place and is in historic San Telmo.
Unique Quality: Free tango lessons daily with your stay! THey are a 'Tango Residential Academy", and live up to that billing. This alone is worth the trip! Also, the staff is incredibly friendly and will go out of their way to help you in any way possible. This is a wonderful hotel, and an unforgettable memory.

Me and my wife are dreaming about going to Buneos Aires and learn the tango. Is there any courses for beginners in the city? And in that case, how many days is a course? Any recommendations for a special school?
My wife and I had a week of tango lessons in Buenos Aires some weeks ago. We stayed (and had our lessons) at a place called Mansion Dandi Royal (http://www.mansiondandiroyal.com) in a part of BA called San Telmo. It's not the cheapest place in town but very nice and the teachers Nauhel and Noeli (http://www.tangonyn.com.ar) are very good.
If you don't want to stay at this hotel you can only show up at the classes (about 6 pm) and pay 10 peso.

there are a lot of classes for begginers, nd a lot of them are in english, so don´t worry. When you get here, you will find two free publicatios, "tanguata" and another one, both about tango, and they have a lot of good info. all the milongas are listed there, and also all the classes.

Now, neither my partner nor I has even been remotely interested in Tango beyond a vague desire to see a tango show whilst we were in B.A. Lina, who owns the hotel, is the loveliest person you will ever meet and a fantastic tango dancer and teacher. She has guests that come back year after year from all over the world. She will make sur that you get to go to the best and most secret milongas in BA and she always throws lots of parties for her guests where everyone stuffs themselves on bbq and dances until dawn. I don't even dance and I had the most amazing time!!! The hotel is intimate and relaxed and feels like an oasis in the midst of crazy and exciting city. And the most you'll pay for a room is $60 for the principal suite. Can't recommend the place enough.

With me, we had some lessons through our intensive spanish course. But.. def take advantage (aprovecharse) of the low relative cost. Good luck!
I´ve never heard about that tango guest house, But what i know is that there are not secret milongas. You can find them all in the publications I´ve mentioned.
