More about Own Palermo Hollywood

It's home away from home!

by TripAdvisor Member TravelingIrene

We loved our stay at Own Palermo and the staff were spectacular. They made us feel at home. Each night, we were greeted with yummy chocolate or candy and two bottles of water by our bed. In the morning, they specially hand-prepare breakfast for you, which consists of fresh fruit, toast, croissant, yogurt, OJ, and coffee. It's simple, but good. And staff members all speak English fluently and can help you figure out where to go in the city. Thy can also help you figure out bus/train routes. The location of the hotel is perfect for gourmands as the area is full of great restaurants! I highly recommend the travelers staying here to go to LaCabrera and Domingas for dinner.

Barbie and staff, continue your great work!

Comfort, Style and Friendliness in a Great Location

by TripAdvisor Member Charo09

My sister and I just came back from a week in Buenos Aires and had a delightful stay at the new OWN Hotel in Palermo Hollywood. The staff is professional, knowledgeable and incredibly friendly. Our room had all modern amenities and was very quiet and comfortable. We almost felt as if we were staying as a guest in a friend's home. When we arrived, based on preferences we filled out in our profile on the hotel's website, the staff provided us with a list of suggestions for doing the activities in which we had expressed interest. We really enjoyed breakfast each morning where we could enjoy great coffee, and make our plans for the day chatting with the staff.
While Buenos Aires is a huge and exhausting city, when we came back to OWN and to the neighborhood, we could relax in the evenings and take just a short walk to all sorts of great restaurants with different cuisines including Japanese-Peruvian, Indian, modern Argentine, Italian, Hungarian, etc.
I have traveled on business to Buenos Aires for many years, staying a number of the larger five star corporate hotels in Recoleta and Puerto Madero, which are convenient for business, but I can honestly say, this was by far the most pleasant hotel and we would love to return there. I would highly recommend OWN hotel for all types of travel.

A charming hotel with a great staff.

My wife and I stayed in Own Palermo for 5 days, in October, 2009. The hotel is brand new, very clean and everything works perfect well. The staff is gentle, the manager (Barbara) is wonderful and the breakfast is irresistible. Although taxis in Buenos Aires are incredibly cheap, it is important to note that the hotel is not located in the city centre, but in Palermo (a very charming neighbourhood). So, if you plan to spend you whole time in the city centre bear in mind this fact.

A really new modern place to stay

by TripAdvisor Member Ross50Uk

We had a brief 1 night stay here. The rooms are huge and we had a good view of the city from the 5th floor. We loved the iPod dock, comfy bed and trendy feel to the whole place. Reception were great with booking food, printing boarding passes and directions.

The wifi is the fastest I've had anywhere allowing home like functionality.

The only fault I could find was that we both found the elevator machinery noise loud enough to wake us up in our room (501) though I'm aware no one else has noted this and maybe I'm over sensitive to this!

Overall it was a good stay in brand new funky surroundings.

Nice boutique hotel

by TripAdvisor Member French_Australian

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. It is well located close to restaurants and bars. Palermo is the trendiest place in Buenos Aires. The people at the hotel are very nice and helpful. It is a good place if it is your first time in BA. The room are nice and the windows are double glassed which is a must have if you want to have a good night sleep since most nights there are parties around and it can be noisy.

I will recommend this place.

Great boutique hotel

Trendy rooms and friendly staff. The hotel itself is great. On the down side, location is a bit far away from the more popular tourist sites. But that is not a problem since cabs are really cheap in BsAs.

Good room with friendly and helpful staff

by TripAdvisor Member Adenturer

We stayed for 5 nights and we liked this hotel (after been ripped off by another hotel), it was very new just opened not long ago. So everything seemed good.
Good points:
- The room was big enough to be comfortable. The furnitures were nice and comfortable (I liked the red leather chair). Bathroom was good side although the shower was not designed too well, but we didn't mind too much. No bad smell.
- The staffs were really nice and helpful.
- The ipod dock in the room was very useful to us.
- the fast wifi access point was useful too.
- some good restaurants near by which was handy.

Bad points:
- The location was a bit out of the way, and felt a bit rough compare to Soho Palermo on the other side of the railway. But it is not too far to get to.

Modern and So Comfortable!

We decided to stay at this hotel on the last few days (3 days) of our visit to Argentina and found it to be the best decision we made! Having been in BA for a few days before traveling to Iguazu, returning to OWN Hotel was like coming home. Big room, great staff, and excellent location. The only issue we had with the room was that there was not a convenient mirror in the bathroom for shaving or primping, no big deal though considering everything else this place has to offer. The restuarants nearby are awesome. Thanks to the staff we were pointed to some of the best in the area. Many are within walking distance and it did not feel dangerous at all walking up and down Fitz Roy street where many of the restuarants are located. You must also take advantage of the late morning breakfast that is offered pretty late compared to other places. It's individual and simple just enough to get your day started. This place was just terrific!

Beautiful, Comfortable, Friendly and Professional

by TripAdvisor Member Objectivetravel

We stayed at Own Hotel only 3 nights but wished it had been longer. The hotel has only been open a couple of months but it was run like it had been open for years! The staff was friendly and helpful and made suggestions for places to visit and restaurants. The rooms were modern clean and comfortable. And, the location is right next to wonderful restaurants, shops and gallariers. At the end of the day we felt like we had come home. There is a lounge area near the lobby and a bar next to it and in the morning a wonderful breakfast was served. Excellent place to stay!

Buying a second hand van in Buenos Aires.

by Pitufo

Hello,

My girlfriend and I are planning to go and travel around Southamerica in about 3 months time and we are planning to buy a second hand van (VW type)in Buenos Aires.

Does anybody know a place we could find a second hand dealer in Buenos Aires?
Has anyboady had the experience of buying a car for long period travelling purposes?

Thank you in advance,
David

This would be a good place to start, you can even search for current inventory and prices of used (usados) vans.

Sounds like you're looking for trouble. Buying a used vehicle anywhere is very often a problem. In Buenos aires it would be jusy foolish.

Do you speak fluent Spanish? Are you mechanics? How are you going to explain to anyone what problem you're having with the car? Will you be able to read road signs, other than direction and distances? What about insurance? Are you aware of the way Argentines drive? In Buenos Aires they make right turns from the extreme left lane,

Happy motoring
