A nuestra derecha Le Sud, pequeno y suntuoso resto.

Deluxe room has large balcony
by TripAdvisor Member TorontoInOntario
We like a deluxe room with balcony + view when we book a hotel. This room delivered. Beautifully appointed room (ask for the deluxe room with balcony on 18th floor). Good view of city and water. Hotel is located in a very safe-for-tourists high-end art gallery district in Buenos Aires.
We liked the Sofitel

Excellent, pleasant helpful staff, good location, rooms small but nice.
We've stayed at Alvear palace, four seasons, and caesar park. Price considered this may be best. Liked location on side street. Not cheap, but probably 2/3 of other 5 stars in B.A.....
A Great Place to Stay

The Hotel Sofitel in Buenos Aires is treasure that I would recommend to anyone! We were there for a week and from the day we walked in the door to the day we left - we felt right at home!
We loved the location on Calle Arroyo - within walking distance to the park, Calle Florida for great shopping and local restaurants, sites and shops.
The staff was attentive and pleasant and the entire hotel immaculately maintained. Our favorite place to congregrate was the Cafe Arroyo Bar in the hotel - where we drank little cups of espresso with soda water backs and tiny cookies morning, noon and night! The breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant was a nice touch even though some of the offerings were a bit unusual.
The only drawbacks to the hotel were a smallish gym with a little older equipment and the indoor pool did not have a jacuzzi. But with all the walking we did while we were there - the gym was barely missed at all!
Fine Hotel in a fine location

We spent 7 nights at the Sofitel in May 2006. The hotel is first rate. We had a deluxe room which was good sized, nicely furnished and very clean. The hotel is within walking distance of many of the central Buenos Aires shopping areas and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and accomodated all our requests. We will definitely stay there again.
Great hotel, but be careful with some (not all) of the concierges

We spent a total of 5 days, on our way to and from Ushuaia and Antarctica.
Room - We stayed on the 5 floor in a Club, very spacious and comfortable room. The bed is great: you sleep ON TOP of a very comfortable duvet. No view.
Breakfast - Excellent buffet. One of the waitress was not friendly, but all the others were.
Location - Good, in a quiet street, but walking distance from many areas. A great typical Argentinian (no tourists, and excellent meat) called Mirasol is 10 minutes away by foot. Really worth going once.
Service - Can be greatly improved.
1) When we arrived, we were asked to wait for 4 hours in the bar because the room was not ready. When you are a Club member, you are entitled to early check in. They didn't even offered us a drink.
2) One of the concierge told us that all the boats were absolutely full to Uruguay for the entire week, and he offered to book a helicopter flight for us for around US$1,000 for a 20 minutes flight!. We said no. The following day, we passed in front of the ferry departure by accident, where we bought a round trip ticket for very cheap and travel in a ferry 50% empty!
3) Another concierge hired us a guide for the 1entire in Uruguay for US$75. At lunch time, the guide told us her job was over, and it would cost us more to hire her for the rest of the day!
But 2 other concierge were perfectly fine. Just be careful and don't give tips too soon!
Taxis - In Buenos Aires, one taxi ripped us of, but all the others were honest. One even charged us less than what was on the meter for a very short ride: we paid him what the meter price + a tip.
Oustanding hotel

The Sofitel is far and away the best hotel in BA from many standpoints - location, architectural distinctiveness and most importantly service. I have tried the Alvear Palace, the Sheraton (cookie cutter) and the Hilton. Staff is truly multilingual and multitasking (the health club attendant was as good as any concierge!) Fittings are great - good internet connections in the room. No
