a unique and welcoming boutique hotel

As soon as we arrived at the Cocker after a long, exhausting flight, Amanda (the owner) was there to kindly welcome us in and take our bags and offer us a seat at the breakfast table. While we ate from dishes full of cereal, pastries, yogurt and juice, she brought us a map of the neighborhood and explained all of the different places we could visit and that she recommended. For the entire trip she was available to answer questions or give us suggestions, and she always made us feel totally welcome there.

The hotel is in San Telmo, less than a block from Defensa Street, the main street of that barrio, so we were near lots of great restaurants and the Sunday fair. There was a lovely little deck right outside of our room where we had a picnic lunch one warm day. There is no tv in the room, but in a city like Buenos Aires, we really didn't miss it (and besides, there are lots of bookshops nearby, including an English language one I bought some reading material from for the trip!) We really had no problems here and I would recommend the Cocker to anyone.

Unique Quality: The house is gorgeous with a lot of unique details - a beautiful metal spiral staircase, a huge stained glass window, outdoor decks/gardens, and lots of vintage decorations. And the price was much lower than most places we found to stay in the city!

Oh my God! Stay here!!!!

On a surprise romantic break with my boyfriend to Buenos Aires (you can just about see him in the picture of the balcony) we stayed at a boutique guest house called The Cocker. I have to say what a brilliant time we had there. The owners are an english gay couple who were just lovely and helped us out with pretty much everything including a trip to Uruguayand a night at the theatre (the wonderful Teatro Colon).
The place is a beautiful old house that they renovated themselves and looks like a magazine shoot. Our room had a bathroom ON TOP of a four- poster bed (see the photo) and its own private roof-garden. We had a look round the other suites - there are only five - and they all looked gorgeous. We reall can't recommend the place enough - it made our holiday- and we wish it all the best!

Unique Quality: All the rooms are set around roof gardens and the terraces of an amazing old house with unbelievably high ceilings, it's an old house but everything is very modern and chic. There is a little dog there - THE Cocker who is adorable, we wanted to take him home with us!
