We do like to stay in ‘Bed and Breakfasts’, because in general you do have more contact with the local people, talking about the way of living, culture, receiving tourist information. And sometimes the hosts will help you with problems you may have. In Buenos Aires we found through the internet between 10 and 20 B&B’s and after a lot of e-mailing and reading information, we decided to stay at ‘Lo de Costa Bed &Breakfast’. The main reason was the location, while it is located in Vicente Lopez, a green and quiet neighbourhood outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Bs As. And still easy accessible by taxi, bus or train. You need about 30 minutes to Retiro Station (a walk to the train station of Vicente Lopez and a train ride). We never regretted staying with Gloria and Eduardo, our hosts. Especially Gloria did help us a lot due to a strike of pilots in Argentina. We couldn’t have wished a better start of our days in Argentina. It was just perfect We came as guests and did leave as friends !!
Our room was the so called 'Flowers Room': spacious, overlooking the garden with access to a huge balcony, private bathroom. Lo de Costa has also a swimming pool, a garden and day rooms to read a book, to look TV or to listen to music. It is possible to have dinner together with the family. We were too lazy to find a restaurant after a tiring day (trip) and are looking back on great evenings. Often starting with a glass of wine, a chat and to finish with a fantastic dinner !! America del Sur Hostel: one minute after arrival by vtveen, 4 more photos America del Sur Hostel was our first ‘hostel’ ever during our holidays. We had chosen for this hostel in El Calafate after reading some good reviews and because they offered affordable rates. Be aware in El Calafate the rates are a lot higher than in other parts of Argentina. The hostel is located just outside the town centre of El Calafate (less than 10 minutes walk, partial via a dirt road) on a hill overlooking Lago Argentino with the snow covered Andes mountains in the background. Once we took off our shoes (immediately after the front door) we felt at home. Although we expected to meet only ‘youngsters’ there were also travellers more or less from our (older) age. A spirit of travelling is present in this accommodation. And it doesn’t matter where, or in the lounge or dining room, there is always somebody to have a chat. We had a room for two: basic, clean, private bathroom and a great view !! But the hostel offers also other (cheaper) rooms.
Our fondest memory is the fantastic crew of America del Sur Hostel (Seba, Mariano, Mati, Ana). They were so friendly and helpful and did their utmost to make our stay unforgettable (and succeeded). We came with hugs and left with kisses !!

Cabanas de la Barronca has 3 attached cabana's plus the owners residence. They are located in a newer part of the city, near the Ushuaia airport. You will need a car. Downstairs is a lounge area, couch makes into a small bed, dining area, small kitchen with full size appliances. The bathroom is also downstairs. Upstairs is a full/queen size bed plus a great view of the mountains from the window.
A light breakfast is provided every morning for breakfast. You have much more room and privacy than you would have in a hotel room.

After a bit of drivng around El Calafate, we finally found Solares Del Sur . It was quite a ways outside of the town. It is a hotel with detached cabins made of native wood. Our cabin had a kitchen, a room with a couch and dining room table, plus bathroom downstairs. The bedroom was up the stairs and it had 3 full size beds. From the window you had a great view of the lake. This is a good place to stay if you want to be away from the crowd and noise of town. You will need some means of transportation though because there is nothing nearby.
The cabin that we had could have accommodated a larger family. A light breakfast is brought to your door every morning and it was included in the price of the cabin.

Welcome here ! Bienvenue ici ! by Maillekeul It's a bit hard to reach the place from the center of Humahuaca (3000 meters high, don't forget it ), but it's worthwhile ! The Posada El Sol has very nice rooms, shared baths very clean with hot water at any time, and the kitchen is for you. The owners are very nice and will easily chat with you about any subject. A good address.

Overlooking the glacier by kyoub I would love to stay at the Hosteria Los Notros for a few nights. It sits up on a hill and from there you have a wonderful view of the glacier and lake. It is the only accommodations close to the glacier. It was not in our budget this time to stay here though. I just stopped to look at the scenery and snapped a picture.

No, we didn't stay here but I found it quite interesting. The hotel takes its name from the Yamanas people that are native to Ushuaia. This picture is a replica of one of their shelters. It is located in front of the hotel. The hotel is located with a view of the Beagle Channel. Go to their website and have a look at the Yamanas history. Theme: HotelDirections: It is located only 4 km from the centre of the city of Ushuaia and 3 km from the International Airport.Website: hotelyamanas.com.ar
