Although described in the Rough Guide as a modern popular place, we discovered that the Buenos Ayres Hostel off Defensa is actually student accommodation for BA´s University population. So if you can speak fluent Spanish, can put up with noisy and surly 17 and 18 year olds then this is the place for you. The owner is lovely though. S and I ind stayed for a couple of days before moving elsewhere to try and get some Spanish lessons. by littlesam1 After my trip to Ushuaia I returned to Buenos Aires for three additional days. At this time I stayed at the Rochester Concept Hotel on Maipu. It is within walking distance of the tourist pedestrian street on Florida Avenue. The hotel was very nice. The rooms were large. There was cable television, air conditioning and a large bathroom. The area was centrally located and near the tourist area. It was great in the day, but became a little sketchy at night. If you are staying alone I would use caution on the streets around the hotel in the evenings. We saw many police cars and heard sirens in the evening when we returned to our room.
Internet service is provided at the hotel. There is also a complimentary breakfast in the morning.

I wanted to do a seperate tip for the gardens at the house on 3935 Mansilla. Marta caught me taking the photos and asked me why was I taking so many pictures. When she sees this page she will understand. I wanted to make sure I gave this place the best image possible when I posted my tips.

We could not have asked for more friendly or helpful bed and breakfast hosts than Marta and Carlos the owners of the bed and breakfast. We were made to feel welcome from the time we entered the door. There was a slight language barrier but it caused no problems. We tried to use our little knowledge of Spanish and Marta and Carlos did their best to try and understand us. We spent several nights with them in their kitchen sharing a bottle of wine, a few beers, and lots of laughs and good conversation. One evening they invited some friends from the neighborhood over to talk with us. It was honestly one of the best experiences I have had at a bed and breakfast. The room was spotless and air conditioned. There are computers and free internet service available and also WIFI is you have it on your personal computer. Breakfast is served every morning.
The house itself is charming. There are two gardens with a sitting area at the house. The rooms are large and spacious. by mvtouring It is always a good idea to get the hotel’s calling card so that you can show that to the taxi driver and he Hill then get you back to your hotel safe and sound. They tend to pronounce things differently from us, so it just helps to eliminate any problems. trally located near the harbour area and the main shopping street Florida Ave.

We had the President of Vietnam staying during the time we were there, so there was a lot of security and press, but overall it was a nice place to stay. The complimentary breakfast was better than most.

Amerian Park Hotel by Jez79 The Amerian Park Hotel is big enough to have everything you want, and small enough to have a friendly feel. The hotel is conveniently located, about two blocks from Florida St in one direction, and the Plaza de Mayo in the other (following Reconquista). The rooms are clean and of a reasonable size, with TV, mini bar, in room safe and a well stocked bathroom. There is also a cashier and travel desk, smalll restaurant/ bar, free internet and business centre. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and is a simple but tasty buffet. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, and taxi's and public transport are relatively easy to access as well. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and some speak fluent English, which is great when it's 5am and your spanish is average!!
