Travel Tips for Villa Gesell

Pretty Nice Place to Kill Some Time

by Wade123

After a few cold, windy, rainy days in Necochea, we hoped Villa Gesell would be better. It was! It was everything that Necochea was not.
We had nice weather, people on the beach, most of the stores were open for the season, decent restaurants, lots of hotels and the town itself was pretty and inviting.
We bused in from Necochea via Mar del Plata. From the main highway, the road into town was dirt, which was a little surprising. It passed through sand dunes covered with brush and trees. We saw several beautifully colored birds which delighted us.
The bus terminal was on the south end of the town. A single taxi was available at the station, so we headed to a hotel which Lonely
Planet indicated was open that time of year (naturally it wasnt). Our driver drove us around until we found a very nice place to stay.
'Villa' has a long sandy beach which even at that time of year was getting some use. The town is very long as it stretches along the coastline. We had no idea where "El Centro" might be, because we passed through several places from the bus station to our hotel that could have qualified. The residential areas had numerous nice upscale houses and lots of trees and flowers.
Being into gardening, my wife and I noticed many plants that we were familiar with. Pines, weeping willows, poplars, bird of paradise, hydrangia, verbena, lavender, to name but a few. It reminded us a lot of the central coast of California.
On the beachfront, we saw some seagulls with black heads. Something new for us. The street along the beach was sand and along one side was a long boardwalk. Some of this wooden structure was raised several feet above the street (must be a real blowing sand problem).
The town is big enough to support a lot of shops for tourists, internet places, childrens arcades, candy shops, etc. Plenty of hotels and restaurants and cafes. I broke my glasses but got them repaired for free at an optical shop. Can't beat that!
We found ourselves liking Villa a lot. Would have loved to have been able to go out of town and done some birdwatching. Maybe next time.

" Joy and Happiness "

We had so much FUN during this 3 days in Mar de las Pampas, that our cheeks still hurt a little.

The cabin where we spent this days was MORE than beautiful...and comfortable. Had windows all over the place, with amazing views all around the woods.

A dream...come true!!!

" Dancing all night long... "

Our first night in Mar de las Pampas was more than FUN.

Sebastian cooked a barbecue, wich was exquisite, and then had a few toasts with an excellent wine.

Flor and I made the salads...and then, everything was ready!!!

The wine helped to pass the cold outside the Cabin, and made us laugh even higher!!!

Then we organized a DANCE all over our Cabin. And stayed there, dancing untill 4 AM...Incredible fun night!

" The Beach... "

The next day, we were tired enough, and ready to give a look to all those amazing trees around us.

So...after lunch, we walked all the way from the Cabin to the beach...just beautiful.

I really don´t find words to describe the beauty of this place...

" Having some rest... "

After a few hours walking thru every little way in Mar de las Pampas...I just needed to have some rest...

So I did!!! In our wonderful livingroom...Flor had to take me a picture of this magical moment.

Here it is.

" Breakfast "

Our BREAKFAST were so plentifull that was hard to finish it all at once!

Anyway...we ate it, almost all!!
But the special thing about this moments were the amazing views we had al around us.

Kodak Moment!
