From Cordoba to Corientes

by mindcrime

How far is Corientes from Cordoba?
What companies serve this route?
Is there any night bus?
I want to go to Iguazu Falls but I was thinking first to stop for a day or 2 at Corientes so not to be all day in the bus. Maybe there any other city on the way thats worth staying at?

thanx in advance!

Corientes is around 800Km far from Cordoba. I mean is geographically far, but roads are not a straight line. By reason of that I'm sending you some good argentinien links:

Going to Corrientes will be "all day on the bus" so not much time savings there over Iguazu. As for as towns along the way, you might take a look at Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz which is linked to Paraná. This should be a fairly easy trip from Cordoba and not take all day. A bit further from there and north of Colón is the
El Palmar National Park. Between Corrientes and Iguazu there are the many ruins of the ancient Jesuit missions - some of which have been covered by the jungle -& are located near Posadas. The most well-known ruins are in San Ignacio Miní, 56 Km away from Posadas. They are well worth stopping off to see.

Hope this helps and have a grand adventure.

Hm... So, how many hours do I need for that 800km? (oh god! the distances are long because I leave in Greece and we get tired sooner :) )

Dont you think its better to stay at Corrientes 1-2 days before Iguazu? Because if Corrientes is so far I cant imagine how far the Falls are :)

I'm not asking for daytrips around Cordoba but places to stop for 1 or 2 before continue to Iguazu.

Re: From Cordoba to Corientes

If you can get a non stop bus it will take about 11 hours to reach Corrientes. And a non stop bus to Iguazu would be about 18 hours. The distance from Cordoba to Igauzu is 1460 kms.

The cities and sites that I mentioned as possible ones to visit are not day trips from Cordoba. For instance Cordoba to Paraná is about 370 kms and would take about 4 1/2 hours.

Argentina is the 8th largest country in the world in land mass, so yes the distances can be great. If you don't know the major intercity buses can be very comfortable. The cama class normally features a lie flat seat, meat served at your seat and for a bus a rather civilized experience. So an overnight bus is not so torturous as you might fear.

I hope this helps you a bit,

Travel Tips for Córdoba

In the province, there are...

by luciano

In the province, there are great hiking opportunities at the Sierras de Cordoba, a mountain range to the west of the city. My favourite places are the Cerro Champaqui, a hill of 2880 m, and the Quebrada del rio Condorito (Condorito river's Gorge), a National Park.
Quebrada del Condorito is a V-shaped crack more than 400 mts in depth and with 1500 mts between its walls. It's one of the few places where you can see condors at short distance; they nest on the steep southern balcony, from where the view is magnificent.
