Sabbatical in Cordoba?

by liveweyerd

I am wanting to take a 3 to 6 month sabbatical. I am interested in the best economical arrangement I can find..it may be the difference between whether I can stay 3 or 6 months! I am attracted to Cordoba but trying to determine a budget and plan. I CANNOT find any apartment rentals! I do need internet access. Will appreciate any and all advice, leads, suggestions and opinions.
Is my plan feasible. I want to fly out of the US early to mid August.

Do you speak Spanish (or read it)?
The local newspaper is a great source of apartment rentals
www.lavozdelinterior.com.ar
and this place is a realestate agency
www.galiciaprop.com.ar
finding an apartment without being there is next to impossible, the locals are not used to dealing with foreigners (although they are friendly and welcoming) the rental pace is extrememly fast (a few hours from press time, things are already rented) and there is not a lot of information in English or specifically geared toward foreign travellers. Get booked at an afordable hostel (pesion they are called in spanish) and from there you can just get cozy and figure out what you'd like to do. Best of luck!

Jesuit's Crypt of Antique Novitiate

by mikegr

This underground temple (dating from the early 18th century) was only rediscovered in 1989, which makes ot particularly fascinating for me (it makes you wonder what you are walking over everyday on your way to work!).

I tried to visit it at 3.30 pm on my last day in Cordoba, only to find that it is only open from 9am to 2.30pm - so sadly I missed it.

I wish I had visited yesterday when I was waiting for the churches to open their doors.

Next time...........
