Tilcara lies at the heart of the Quebrada de Humahuaca in North West Argentina, one of the country's most picturesque areas. Tilcara is a great base for exploring the spectacular landscapes of the Quebrada, and it's well set up for visitors with many hotels, restaurants and cafes. The town lies 90 km north of Jujuy, the main city in the province, and is easily reached by the frequent buses between Jujuy and the Bolivian border.

Tilcara - pure living!

"Don't pass it!"

tilcara is small, but lovely. your bus on the route to or from bolivian boarder will stop there. people are calm and friendly, and the fruit market is astonishing large!
most of the restaurants are worth a visit, especially "San Jorge" (just at the bus station) - where I took my best meals.
