Few questions

by Anjulis

I will be in Mendoza 3 full days. How to spend my time there better?

1. I thought of spending one day driving between wineries, one day - rafting. What to do the third day?

2. Is is true that wineries are closed on weekends? My days are: Fri, Sat, Sun

3. Do I need to call them in advance for an appointment - Frommers strongly suggest to do it.

4. Are there any "must visit" wineries? I don't need any tours as I've been in wineries in other places and they all show the same.

5. Where is the best place to raft? I would like the most difficult route available.

6. Wife does not want to go rafting. What program can I offer her instead? :-)

7. Should I expect problems finding a car with automatic transmission for rent?

Thank you

Have a look at www.vinesofmendoza.com. Be sure to make a reservation at the wineries, because they have been known to turn people away.
For your third day you might want to go up into the Andes and see the Aconcagua National Park and the surrounding areas, the Inca Bridge, etc. It's pretty spectacular and can be arranged with a remise driver. It will be difficult or impossible to find a car with automatic. Does you wife enjoy riding horses?
Suerte!!!

Travel Tips for Mendoza

Mountain Bike, visitando bodegas en Mendoza!!

by maqui

Parque San Martin - the biggest park of the city

by Trekki

Mendoza is a green city, having trees lining most of the streets.
In addition, it offers many parks to rest, the biggest one being Paque José Francisco San Martin.
It was designed in 1897 by Carlos Thays and with it's 420 hectars is the home of around 50.000 trees, a big lake, a rose garden and several sports centers (tennis, regatta, football, etc).
There is a zoo, and of course, famous Cerro de la Gloria - with the monument to the army of San Martin, the south american hero from Argentina.

The picture has been taken at the lake, with a fantastic view to the precordillera (up to 3000 m high mountains).

Villavicencio

by trvlrtom

Villavicencio is an old resort spa located in an ecologically preserved area about 50 km north of Mendoza. Although the resort has been unused for the past 30 years, the grounds still have the famous termal waters, several garden paths and the old chapel. The drive here is very pretty: from Mendoza it takes you up the foothills of the Andes along the old international road to Chile.

Las Leñas Ski Resort

by Lunita

Going to Las Leñas, even if you are not so kind skiing (like me lol), its def, a must see.
In Las Leñas you will find a great vibe very good slopes, a very interesting social life and an absolutely "no worries" policy all arround.
This year i was there for 4 weeks asisting with Argentina Alive to a company that join us to organize this trip, was an great experience and met lots of extraordinary people from all over the world.
