Three Borders
by acemj
I took this picture from the Friendship Bridge which connects Foz do Iguacu, Brazil with Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. You are looking at Puerto Iguazu, Argentina and the land in the left foreground is Brazil. The slivers of land along the right edge of the photograph are Paraguay and the city skyline is Puerto Iguazu.
You can visit Tres Fronteiras (Three Borders) which has markers for each country at the spot where the Rio Parana and the Rio Iguacu meet.
Buenos Aires
by acemj
If you're visiting Argentina, it's highly likely that you'll find yourself in Buenos Aires. The flight between Puerto Iguazu and BA is only about an hour and a half, but it really will transport you to another world. BA used to be the most expensive city in South America, but as a result of the result economic turmoil, prices are low and BA has become a bargain hunter's dream. Does a $7 steak dinner sound good to you? Wanna see the place where tango was born? How 'bout visiting the stadium that the great Maradona once worked his magic? Buenos Aires was by far the most European feeling city in South America that I visited and this air of sophistication no longer has to come with a high price tag.
Itaipu Dam by Helicopter

A few kilometers from the falls stands the Itaipu Dam, considered a masterpiece of engineering. The dam is 8 km long and has a spillway that can pour 60,000 m' per second, a channel and a lake with a surface of 1350 km'. The waters of the Uruguay River flow into the Rio de la Plata; however, it is not navigable so it is impossible to return to Buenos Aires through this river. The first obstacle are the Mocona Falls which can only be reached in a small expedition. Located on the border between Misiones and Brazil, the Uruguay River forms beautiful and imposing falls when it divides into two arms and it flows over itself in a cascade of about 3 km with falls that range from 5 m. to 12 m. in height. Tourist facilities are scarce and they can only be reached by motorboat from El Soberbio.

33 kilometers away from the Falls you can do an interesting FREE tour to the Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant, largest in operation in the world.
It is a binational undertaking developed by Brazil and Paraguay in the Paraná River. The installed power of the plant is 12,600 MW (megawatts). Itaipu was listed as one of the seven wonders of the modern world by Popular Mechanics in 1995.
The tour is a visit to the external part of the Power Plant, with two stops: one at the Spillway Observation Deck and the other at the Central Observation Deck. The visit will be made in the tourist bus that brought you to the Visitor Reception Center.
Monday to Saturday 08:00, 09:00, 10:00, 14:00, 15:00 and 15:30
Parque Nacional de Iguazú
by elpariente
Iguazú National Park , Unesco World Heritage , for me is one example of the well done things to international level as the Park is shared by Argentina and Brazil and you notice that both countries are doing a big effort to maintain the waterfalls and their environment , though they are one of the biggest tourist attractions in South America (Of the new Sheraton Hotel is better no comment)
If you can , visit the waterfalls from both countries as the visits are completely different. an Argentinian told us : we put the show and they the theater. In the Argentina side you are most of the time over the waterfalls but on the Brazil side you see them with certain perspective
Note . I am including all my Iguazú Tips in Argentina , but I will indicate those that are in Brazil
