Bariloche Premium Hostel

I spent a total of seven nights at this hostel during my stay in Bariloche. Despite the dorm rooms, which were something to be desired, and its horrid upper bunk beds! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hostel with its great views of Lago Nahuel Huapi and its free dinners! The highlight was having breakfast on the terrace with the lake view and seeing the sunset across the lake on an evening! Each room has a view of the lake of the city beneath.

The rate includes breakfast as well as dinner along with free internet access and WiFi. The reception staff can able to book activities and tours on your behalf and there is a guest kitchen available).

Please note that the hostel Inn is on a hill and that the entrance has a lot of steps and would not be suitable for disabled travellers (Marcopolo Inn would be more suited instead because the hostel has a lift).

Please note that the private rooms seem to just consist of bunk beds instead of a bed and some rooms don't have an ensuite bathroom. I felt I was not getting value for money when I booked a private room for the first two nights of my stay there.

I would recommend staying there for the the lake views but do make further enquiries about the room arrangements especially for the private rooms when booking.

Unique Quality: The great views of Lago Nahuel Huapi!

Travel Tips for San Carlos de Bariloche

"Facturas"

by perfectly_zen

Facturas are a great and cheap option for breakfast or lunch break, and you can find them in any bakery in Argentina, from north to south...and even supermarkets.
They are a type of sweet bread, with all kinds of filling...chocolate, jelly....there is a big diversity of facturas and you can buy four or five for a very good price....

Trekking and more trekking

by pili

Bariloche has a lot of mountains and shelters which you can get by trekking.-
This picture is the starts of one of my trips to Bariloche.-

Cerro Tronador: Path to Thunder ~ Camino al Trueno

by andal13

"Río Manso"

To visit Cerro Tronador, you must get into Nahuel Huapi National Park (by car or bus); there is a schedule to come in. The way goes through a wonderful forest, along Mascardi Lake.
The picture shows the bridge over Río Manso.

"Lago Mascardi"

Lago Mascardi takes its name of Father Mascardi, the first missionary in this region; he was killed by Mapuches. The lake is also known as "seven colours lake", because the water has different colours in different places.

"Pampa Linda"

From Pampa Linda you can see the majestic Tronador, and even hear its "thunders".

"Black Snowdrift"

Cerro Tronador, an old volcano, has many glaciers and an awesome black snowdrift; when large ice pieces fall down, they drag black rock sediments, so the ice turns black.
The picture shows black ice pieces on water.

"Elves' woods"

The black snowdrift is an amazing but almost desert place (the whole mountain is!). On the way back into the base, there is a fertile wood, that seems a perfect place for elves.

The thaw makes a lot of noisy streams; the place called Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat) has a beautiful one.
