by vika_USA
Hello, we are going to be in Bariloche for 3 days and then fly to Santiago Chile from Puerto Montt. We originally wanted to do Lake Crossing to get to PM, but change our plans. Can some one help me to find an agent that can book 4 one-way bus tickets on ViaBariloche from Bariloche to PM and also possibley book a flight from PM to Santiago?
Thank you very much and Happy New Year

Some people like to visit Bariloche during the summer,i don't see the point! It's a place to be in the winter, even for the delicate cold weather guys!Even if you never tried to skii before, you definately must try,at least to entertain your friends, specially the ones who tells all the way they experts in it!LOL.. The way to Bariloche was very beautiful, the sunsets and early mornings, the locals, the wine, the hotel with the fireplace, the atmosphere...to wear real winter clothes,a new thing for brazilians coming from Rio!!(kinda weird so heavy for us!)

The trip begins in Bariloche, taking Bustillo Avenue, The road is asphalted and goes along the Nahuel Huapi Lake. In the 8 kilometre it is Playa Bonita (Pretty Beach) from where the tourist can see the Huemul Island. Ten kilometres far away one can arrive to the base of the Campanario Hill where functions an air-chair that transports the tourist till the top of the hill (1050 metres) from where it can be observed the most beautiful places of the region like the Nahuel Huapi and Perito Moreno Lakes, the Trýbol Lagoon, the Llao Llao and San Pedro Peninsulas, the Isla Victoria (Victory Island), the Otto, Lýpez, Goye and Catedral Hills and the city of Bariloche.
After the zone of San Pedro Peninsula, it is Llao Llao with its San Eduardo Chapel, a jewel of the regional architecture and, on the Nahuel Huapi Lake it is the important Puerto Paýuelo (Handkerchief Port). Continuing the same passage, there are the fields of golf and the Angostura Bridge(over the river of the same name), that unites Brown and Nahuel Huapi Lakes, and Lýpez Bay, located at the foot of the homonym hill. Finally, the tourist arrive to the bridge that crosses the Moreno Lake in its narrowness and bordered Trýbol Lagoon. Two kilometres forward it is the Joint with Bustillo Avenue through out one can return to the city, finishing the Small Circuit excursion.

Bariloche was my first point of call in the lakes district. I was fortunate enough to hook up with 2 of the guys Id met down in Puerto Natales. I spent pretty much my hole time in the lakes district with them 2.
The hostel I was staying at in Bariloche was awesome. Done up like a mountain refugio. The beds were all aligned in 3 lots double bunks in 1 room into one wall which gave them all a cave like effect. They were the most comfortable beds so far on my trip to sleep in.
I spent 5 nights in Bariloche. Its a really touristy town but beautiful all the same set on one of the 7 glacier lakes on the Argentine side of the Andes mountains. The most unique thing in the town were these chain saw artists that carved full on totem polls out of wood.
The most interesting day was when myself and these 2 guys hired a car with a Spanish couple that spoke less english than I did Spanish.
It was a pretty bleak day but fortunately the heavy clouds, rain and wind didnt take away from the breath taking views along the 7 lakes drive that we did to San Martin and back. The most amazing part of the drive was moving into a valley on our way back in the late afternoon full of monoliths.
You could swear it was like moving into some prehistoric park of rock carvings of mythical creatures and facial images.
It all started when I spotted a rock formation that was the spitting image of a cylindrical castle. It was built into one of the mountains almost like it was the watch guard to a Zion community of people living behind its walls in the mountain.
Then 1 by 1 all the monoliths made themselves present. I wont go on to say how many different objects these monoliths looked like as there werent just several of them, there were literally 100s. Like all the moais of Easter Island in organic formed lining the mountains.
I also learnt about a second use for oranges. They actually make for the best weed smoking when your all out of papers. So simple, just poke a couple of holes in the orange, place the dope in the top and suck the *** out of it from the other.
The 5 of us smoked ourselves stupid with this orange for the hole day. Tim, the american was a legend as he brought along his Ipod and had some hell funky *** to listen to while on the road. Yeap, I kept the gang entertained by giving the suspension a good test when the rythums hit my THC infested soul.
Other than that, Bariloche has proven itself just a nice place to relax and hang out with other travellers. I went to a party at a hostel on the top floor of a 10 story building with an awesome view of the lake that Bariloche was on.
Got funky to some cool tunes but had my mood destroyed when they put that bloody Priscilla Queen of The Desert anthem on. So when the funk was killed I got into a drunken conversation with 3 British tourists at the party instead.
I had my first real club night out to. But it wasnt a night like that with my funk soul brothers back home. We set out as about 10 people, but within half an hour I reckon I was the only troop still gettin it on. Everyone bolted.
