 Hostal El Balcon was one of the best hostels we stayed in during our 3.5 months in Argentina. It's in the centre of El Cafayate, one block from the main square, overlooking a small market. There are dorms and double rooms available, both very well priced. We stayed here for 4 nights in an ensuite double room for 55 pesos a night. Our room was spacious, and we even had a small balcony overlooking the street.

There is a kitchen available for guests to use, and with a supermarket and market just across the street, your stay in Cafayate can be excellent value. At the top of a hostel is the very attractive roof terrace, where you'll find hammocks for relaxing and excellent views of the town and the surrounding region.

El Balcon is a very well run place with very friendly and helpful owners. The main girl running the place, Emma, was always on hand to answer questions or advise us on things to see and do in El Cafayate. We also met some great people here, and the whole atmosphere was excellent. I'd highly recommend Hostal El Balcon.
