Ride the Train

by pmayherc

I will be in Salta during February, 2005, when the passenger train isn't running. How does one ride the Freight train? Can we disembark in Chile? How does one arrange to take the partial ride "Train to the Sun"? Is this the same route?

Train to the Sun has the same route but shorter. The Departures dates for february 2005 are Feb/5/12/19. It does not disembark in Chile.
Another option is to take a Movi track. They are very popular, since the viewside is almost the same. You can check them out www.movitrack.com.ar. If you need more information I 'll be happy to help you.

Travel Tips for Salta

The north of the country is...

by Cryp

The north of the country is amazing and you have to take a day trip in the 'Train to the Clouds' (www.trenubes.com.ar) but be sure to take some pills for not being dizzy.
Taste the 'Humita' and the Sweet squash with walnuts.

Teleferic station in the Parque San Martin

by ptitetoile

The Cerro San Bernardo is reachable with a teleferic situated in the San Martin Park. The station is really nice and made me think about Art Nouveau with the iron work and stained glass...And under the station, you will find a lot of handcrafts shops that sell products made by indians :-)
