Take advantage of the fine wines and licours that San Juan The Wine Country has to offer. I came back with 12 bottles of wine. I stuffed them in my socks and passed them right through US Customs,No problem at all. This Santa Ana Cabernet was only .35US cents and this bottle of Cognac from San Juan was only $3 Argentina is a bargains paradise!!!
My sister studied in San Juan, Argentina in high school and we traveled down to see her and meet her family over the New Year's Holiday in 2000. They were an amazing family full of love and hospitaltiy. They brought us in and made us feel like old friends and part of their family. It is people like them that make me want to travel the world round and meet more people just like them.
We took a small side-trip to this local dam/reservoir.
Tip, rent one of the area cottages out for the afternoon as a base. If you're with local Argentinans, suggest to have a an "asado" or BBQ, the slow-cooked meat over the wood is amazing!
