Perito Moreno...so much ice!
by perfectly_zen
This pic was taken in the middle of the walk....that`s the nearest you can get from Perito Moreno on land, for safety reasons.....
But if that?s not enough for you, there?s the ice climbing and trekking you can arrange at El Calafate, in safe parts of the glacier....people say it?s really worth it...
What to Wear ????
by coconutwireless
if you visit during their summer months December -January pack so that you can layer your clothes. it is cold for those of us who come from tropical weather but you'll find you have to take off some of that heavy clothing when the sun is out. Don't forget your sunscreen - the sun is very intense and reflects off if the ice.

Todo Glaciers (All Glaciers) Tour
by oceania26
I personally didn't enjoy this tour as much because there was just way too many other tourist on the ship to actually see or enjoy the beautiful glaciers and icebergs...if you can go when it's not too busy then it would be great.
The ship leaves around 9am and turns approximately 4pm. It's a good idea to bring lunch and snacks with you and warm clothing...it's very cold and windy if you on deck while the ship is moving fast.
upsala glacier
by willy_wonka
even though the upsala is a retreating glacier, it still has the biggest surface area out of all the glaciers in the patagonian ice region. this mighty glacier is about 60km long, and has a surface area of around 595km2. this glacier is named after the swedish city of upsala, due to the fact that the university from this city was one of the first to sponsor the study of these glaciers. (btw, the study of glaciers is called glaciology). this part of the lake that the glacier feeds into (or should i say retreats into?) is 1000 metres deep, so if you don't swim then dont fall off the boat! this is the first glacier that most of the tours stop to. from there we move on to many more icy scenes...
