While the outside looks very impressive, this is not much a hostel. The man at the front desk was very rude and completely unhelpful. He was more interested in drinking his mate than helping. When I asked for information about tours, he told me to come back a little later, even though there were no other guests. On my way in, the former guest in my room was having a tough time with the staff as well. Apparently they accidentally charged her credit card $1000. They tried to rectify this by giving her 3000 pesos in hard cash for her trip back to the United States! When she tried to make her point, the staff rolled their eyes and seemed disinterested.
Other than that, the rooms have ok beds, but no lockers in the rooms. Also, they are very dark. The common space is very nice, but even though this was busy season, not many guests hang out in the common area.

I read about the accomodation in Cafalate before even leaving to Argentina and Calafate Hostel seemed one of the best options right away.
It's a mountain style wooden building located right in the centre and the price is reasonable - 22 pesos for a bed in shared room (with YH card). You can choose either shared or private room/bathroom. They organize many trips themselves and there are great helpful people working there. There is a restaurant/bar where travellers from all over the world can have a beer and share the same passion, it has a great atmophere.

We booked a place in the Calafate Hostel few days before coming here but we had no idea how to get there from the airport. Well, once we got to the tiny arrival hall we noticed a guy from our hostel inviting people to stay there. We asked him how to get there and he just told us to wait for him by the green Land Rover parked right outside. This is called a good service :)
They also took us to the airport but this time we had to pay 12 pesos.
