A hotel that I would not recommend

Tehuel Plaza is a brand new hotel that opened in the third quarted of 2005. It is one of the more luxurious hotels in El Calafate. It is situated in the outskirts of the village, a bit up the mountain. After a heavy dinner, you'd better take a taxi back from the center. Because of its location, there is absolutely nothing to do around the hotel. The center is a 20-minute walk downhill.
As the hotel was just open for a few months, some things went wrong (especially with the new year's eve dinner). The staff was generally very nervous. The quality of the dinner was not good, althogh the breakfast was okay. Although the hotel is small, the atmosphere is very formal and I never felt really comfortable.

Unique Quality: The rooms are spacious and well-equipped. Everything is brand new and it is clear that they have spent an afwul lot of money, especially to Argentine standards.
