plaza 25 de Mayo
by mindcrime
Every city in Argentina has a square with the name 25 de Mayo.
It’s the main square of Rosario, located in the eastern edge of downtown of the city. I spend only a few minutes here after visiting the Cathedral. From here you can continue walking at Pasaje Juramento that leads to the Flag Monument or walk back at Cordoba street for the cafes/shopping etc Have in mind that the square is a good place to take some buses for several parts of Rosario like Parque Indepedencia or the beaches.
There is a nice monument at the square. It was built in 1883 and it’s called Columna a la Libertad and consists of several statues. The one on top represens Liberty and the others some national heroes.

"Views of the city"
Here's Cordoba street, you are looking in the west-east direction. Left hand, you can see Escuela Normal(secondary school and teacher's school) and next to it the Law and Social Sciences University. Both are still working and you'll recognize the buildings while taking a walk in this area.
Called Opera Theater, now is called El Circulo Theater, its architecture has many details you'll love to see, and it has underground galleries that you can also visit. This theater is the most important one in the city. In the same building you have the Opera's Cafe, where you can enjoy musicians playing all the time, is expensive but nice.
Train Station in February 27th Bv. Is not working now.
Orono Bv. It's nice to take a walk along it. It goes from the south entrance of the city and end by the Parana river.
The corner of Corrientes street and Cordoba street. This building is still there, and in its ground level floor you have the "Cafe de la Ciudad", a nice place to have a cup of coffee.
The corner of Laprida street and Cordoba street. Still the same building there and in its ground level floor you have Bola de Nieve Cafe. Means Snowball Cafe, 'cause when they built this, on the top, they made a huge ball as a symbol to remember there was one day in 1973 in which we've got snow!!
A famous pic, 1973 the snow in Rosario, unbelievable!!!
North Train Station, is still working but seems like it is not.
Rosario Port. Still active but not as busy as before.
San Martin street, full of shops, many of this buildings are still there.
Sergeant Cabral Descent, many places to look around this short street.
