Santiago del Estero - living here
by cilantro7
Santiago del Estero is not a touristic province of Argentina.
There is no breathtaking landscape, but the people here are so nice.
This year Santiago del Estero has known lots of events, mostly political.
I tried to understand the local political life, not easy, and scaring.
Apart from politics, I'm working in a NGO with rural women, so I'm in contact with another reality...
But I will try to give you an idea of what you can do as a tourist in Santiago del Estero.

"Mother of the Cities"
Santiago del Estero, in the north-west of Argentina, is known as the mother of the cities, for it was the first regular town in Argentina, and from there expeditions founded other cities.
It has a special charm reflected by the old churches, the streets, the culture and the people.
"The culture is everywhere"
The city is very proud of preserving much of Argentinian culture. There are many museums, churches and other historical places, which turns a walk through the streets into a trip through history and culture.
