Money money money
by Maggies
Maybe not a local custom but definitelly a local thing. The money exchange is open untill 6 pm and it's closed on weekends so it seems that going for a whole day trip makes it impossible to exchange the money in town.
Well, all you need to do is buying something in one of many local shops, pay in USD (bigger bill) and they give you the change in pesos. The most important thing is that some shops have much better rates than a bank or exchange booth.
I got a great rate in a bookstore in local shopping mall (on the corner of Roca and Pena or 28 de Julio). I bought few postcards and payed with 100 dollar bill :) That was a deal.
Parque Paleontologico Bryn-Gwyn
by realde14
This place is full of Patagonian fossils dating from tprehistoric times when Patagonia was submerged by the ocean. This vast outdoor park is very deserted with its moon-like landscape. Apart from paleontologists, there are very few people here, making this an ideal place to enjoy the silence and the vast spaces of Patagonia.
To get here from Madryn, drive to Trelew, Gaiman where you will find signs poiting to the park. Don't worry about getting lost: there are very few streets in Patagonia, chances are you are on the right one!
Walking paths to the beach

The Valdes Peninsula is a “geographical accident” resembling an island and attached to the continent by a narrow part which is only 35 Km. Once in the Peninsula, you will have the chance to tour its coasts populated by sea lions and sea elephants as well as a great assortment of birds.
BUNGY FOR KIDS
by Orkaena
There is a Bungy facility located on the seaside pedestrian boulevard, a kids bungy, I should say.
And believe me, they enjoy it like mad goats, screaming, jumping among laughters and wide open eyes. What a pleasure.
Back to the sea

In April, the penguins migrate to the North (they even come in Rio de Janeiro sometimes); they will be back next September.
The picture shows the opposite fact: the penguins are arriving in Punta Tombo.
En abril, los pingüinos migran hacia el norte (incluso llegan a Río de Janeiro a veces); ellos volverán el próximo septiembre.
La foto muestra el fenómeno contrario: los pingüinos están llegando a Punta Tombo.
