Skiing and Mountain Biking
by IIGUANA
During wintertime, San Martin has nice skiing resorts nearby, while in the summer time, hiking and mountain biking is what you've got to do. When I went there, I didn't bring my mountain bike. I still regret it. There are lots of amazing trails to mountain bike. The view from the nearby hill to the Lácar Lake is quite impressive, and very nice.
You can rent bikes at the bike shop in San Martin Av. Bring a bike and lots of water. And the will to see beautiful landscapes!

Vulinan-co (as we all know!!!) means "divided water" in mapuche; this is the name of a beautiful waterfall hidden behind a leafy vegetation, situated by one of the roads that connect San Martín de los Andes (Provincia del Neuquén) with San Carlos de Bariloche (Provinica de Río Negro); this road that wanders through an awesome landscape is called Seven Lakes Road.

The Seven Lakes Road, that leads you from San Martín de los Andes to San Carlos de Bariloche, runs among several lakes (seven?); one of them is Lago Correntoso. The picture does not show a mapuche woman by the lake; that is just me!

San Martin de los Andes is a nice quiet little town between the Andes and the Lacar lake. It has that swiss style on its constructions, and the people that live there are very friendly. It's an outdoor town, where mountain biking, skiing and hiking are a must.
It's definately one of Argentina's must see. It's where the 7-lake route starts, one of the most impressive and most beautiful roads there are in Argentina.
So if you like snowy mountains, beautiful lakes, and pure air, come to San Martin, you won't regret it.
