Ushuaia is quite a small city speaking of "downtown": you will have to visit just one or two streets to look for your boots. I am sure you will find them there.

When I was in Ushuaia recently, I was buying souvenirs instead of boots, but the same "rule" may apply: The shops on the street nearest the water were quite a bit more expensive--30%--than the shops on the main shopping street one block up the hill from there.

Travel Tips for Ushuaia
Visiting Patagonia
by Luchonda
A general tip to anybody intending to visit this beautiful part of the world.
In peak seasons there are to less planes to fly you to Patagonia - so make early bookings. Even for local people it is not always evident to plan there holidays and intend to visit the most southern area of their country. Tierra del Fuegos - the unique landscapes - it's history
Houses and architecture
by Luchonda
Ushuaia is the state capital of "Tierra del fuego". The architecture reflects the contrasts of very old houses made out of wood and modernly built buildings used mainly as hotels.
All depending on historical and political history.
The older buildings : constructed by the local gouvernment to influence the engaged incoming free workers. (20th century)
The recent builded houses : to give more comfort to the growing quantity of tourists looking for comfort in the most southern city of the world
Bahia Ensenada hike
by Veghel
Bahia Ensenada is a beautiful bay in the Tierra del Fuego national park. It is not too far away from Ushuaia, I guess about 10 km. The best way to go there is by taking a taxi. Alternatively, you can take the Tren del Fin del Mundo (a tourist train), but I do not recommend it (see my tip under Tourist traps). Bahia Ensenada is also a stop for some day cruises in the Beagle Channel.
There is a beautiful hike along the coast line. It starts at the car park and heads in eastern direction along the shore. It is easy to follow. The length of the track is about 10 km, but you can stop at any point and walk back how you came. There are also options for a circular tour (in that case, buy a good map). Bring good shoes and some food and drinks. And like everywhere in the Ushuaia region, reckon with sudden weather changes. And prepare for snowfall any time of the year.
Lighthouse
by kyoub
The lighthouse, Les Eclareurs, is seen on the tours from Ushuaia bay.
It.marks the entrance of Ushuaia's bay for the ships cruising the Beagle channel.
The lighthouse was build after the wrecking of the luxury cruising ship Monte Cervantes on the Ilet in 1930.
Following the old nautical tradition, the captain sank with the ship. He was the only victim among the 1200 souls on board. Today, the ship lie at the bottom of the channel 500 meters east from the islet.
Beautiful sunset
by kyoub about Tolkeyen Hotel
This hotel was also very close to our condo, over looking the channel. We got a table right in front of the window and saw the most beautiful sunset. Of course I had forgotten to take my camera that evening.
This hotel has a lot of group tourists but is in a lovely setting. My husband enjoyed his cow tonge and steak. I had a veggie plate.
