couple interested in sharing a guided tour of tiera del fuego nat. pk. Celebrity Infinity 2/14/10

by ladislao

My wife and I have hired a reputable guide to drive us around to major sites in and around Tierra Del Fuego Nat. Pk. We have already booked the tour. Interested parties can contact us at this address: martyr@csufresno.edu
We are paying $240 USD for a five-hour excursion. This cost would be split evenly for ea. additional person.
Kind regards,
Ladislao.

Hi - you can post this on www.cruisecritic.com - on both the ports of call section and also roll calls (for your specific cruise). You might have better luck there. Have a great cruise!!

Also consider recruiting fellow passengers while on the cruise. Enlist the help of the Cruise Director in spreading the word. I can safely say that you will be successful in doing it that way. When I worked the cruise ships (see my home page), I frequently did this service for the passengers. A lot of the people on the cruise, will not have had the forethought that you have, and will be greatful for being able to join you. Consider yourself ahead of the game already. Good luck and enjoy your journey.....d:o)

Travel Tips for Ushuaia

The port at the end of the world

by toonsarah

One of the main reasons to visit Ushuaia is as the starting point for an Antarctic cruise. These all leave from the port on the southern side of town. We enjoyed strolling around here and checking out all the other ships – and inevitably comparing them with our own! There’s also a small café, and a bizarre giant penguin which makes for a fun photo or two (see my 3rd photo).

For anyone not taking a cruise however, you need to be aware that you’ll only be able to walk so far along the pier before being asked to show a card to indicate that you’re a passenger on one of the ships, and without this evidence you won’t be allowed to proceed.

Mate, the National Drink

by prymsu

Every Saturday during the summer there is an open air market of sorts on the edge of the downtown area. There are lots of goods and handicrafts that can be purchased at a very reasonable price. While walking through the market I saw one group sharing a cup of Mate. When I asked if this is what they were drinking they invited me to share their drink with them.

Snow walking

by realde14

Snow walking is great fun, especially at night with everybody carrying a flashlight or lantern. The organizers of the trip will provide you with the snow shoes. They will also make a fire, offer hot wine and excellent food. Ask around in the city for people that organize these kind of trips. I don't remember the guy's name that organized the tour I was on, sorry.

the old cargo-ship

by globetrott

This old cargo-ship is stranded close to the cruise-port of Ushuaia and it makes a perfect place to take photographs of the lovely surroundings and the great glaciers in the background.
You will see this ship close to Plaza Don Bosco.
