    The services at this hostel are rather basic, but with cute little rooms and, more importantly, newly renovated showers/bathrooms you will have quit a pleasant stay. The ladies running this hostel also offer laundry services and can help you arrange trips and transportation (even though they might not give you the best prices). I believe they also offer breakfast and a packed lunch for those going on longer daytrips (for an additional charge).

    All in all, the best thing is about this hostel is the friendly service, the hot water, and the CLEAN showers/bathrooms.

  • Directions: Walking away from the lake on 6 de Agosto, turn right at the far end of the cathedral onto Murillo. It will be on your left hand side after you pass the telefon place (not sure what it is, but you'll know what I mean when you see it).

    This hostel was listed in the French guide Le Guide du Routard. It is own by a very friendly family and I highly recommend it.

    It is located slightly out of the centre of Copacabana in a street behind the cathedral. The town is so small that you can walk to the Plaza 2 de Febrero, the shops or the lake in minutes. Calle Murillo is lit in the evening so coming back is not a problem.

    Rooms are with or without bathrooms. We choose a room with bathroom and it was big and airy. The shower was one of those Bolivian 'death by electricity' showers and once we mastered the temperature controls, the water was hot, hot hot !

    Breakfast available if you want it.
    Big roof terrace with great view over the whole town and the lake.
    Also available on the terrace is a sink to wash your things and washing line to dry them in the glorious Bolivian sun.
    Left luggage service (useful if you want to spend a night on Isla del Sol)
    Clean rooms and linens
    Very friendly and helpful service.

  • Directions: Calle Murillo is the street that goes up to the left of the cathedral when facing it. It is also the road you will pass if you took a taxi from the border with peru.

    The Cupula is a beautiful building on the hill overlooking the town and the lake. There are wood floors, sunlights and arched windows overlooking the lake. They have rooms with private baths though these do not seem to have lake views. We were lucky enough to be there when it was nearly empty, there was a strike going on. We took one of the big rooms with a great view. Technically it had a shared bath but in that there was no one to share it with we got the best of both worlds.
