Discover La Paz!
by EagleEye
This is an itinary I would suggest to discover La Paz (take about half a day for each step) ...
1- To have a first feeling of the city, start around El Prado : From San Francisco Church and tourist area of calle Linares ("witch market") to Plaza del Estudiante, including plaza Murillo and Avenida Simon Bolivar and Av: El Ejercito to mirador Laicacota.
2- If you want more, go up calle Santa Cruz and then turn right on Paredes which crosses Buenos Aires and goes on in Av. Baptista until the cemetery. Street is just a huge market! And then take a combi labelled "Ceja" to go to El Alto and then stop next to the peaje (motorway toll) where you'll enjoy a nice view over La Paz.
3- To relax a bit and have a clash of culture and time ... Go to zona Sopocatchi where you-ll find plaza Abaroa, where you-ll come back at night. Walk around and go up to mirador Monticulo.
4- If still here, take combi 11 to Valle de la Luna, it crosses La Florida with nice houses. On your way back you could stop here and walk to San Miguel district, the shopping area.

This beautiful and very historical church is located in the middle of la paz avenida mariscal santa cruz. close ot the touristic avenue, sagarnaga. This church was built in 1549 by the Franciscans. that`s why its name san francisco church.
nowadays, I have to say that this area is really packed at rushing hours. if you want to see plenty of people around stand by in front of the church.
Medicinal Donkey Milk
by AlbuqRay
These cholitas and donkeys were along the highway in El Alto that goes to Tiwanaku. They sell fresh milk from the donkeys. I was told if you drink a small cup of warm donkey milk, you can cure many things. I did not try it. In fact, this is not a place in El Alto where you would want to stop unless you were a local.
