I want to fly to La Paz in October from Santa Cruz de La sierra. Any tips or advice would be welcome.

Stay a at least one day in Santa Cruz before going to La paz, to acliamtaize with the altitude, Santa Cruz is high 2000 an south meters, but La Paz is massive the airport is 4000 meters high, and city itself is 3800 or 3600 meters high, so it would be a good ideia to aclimatize before going to La Paz

If yo have any problems with altitued, consult your doctor, before you go he may recomend you some medicine in case the altitude affect you .

Santa Cruz is at 416 meters not 2000 ;) Cochabamba is at 2000 meters or thereabouts.
Lab airlines, Aerosur have multiple flights per day between Santa Cruz and La Paz, TACA have 2 flights per week (i think). Costing around the $100-150 mark

Packing List
by pjallittle
Whatever you would ordinarily use in the way of luggage. We always pack one or two completely empty over the shoulder carry on bags for those extra things that you pick up along the way. They come in very handy and don't take up too much space. The usual advice, gain some knowledge of what you will be doing and select the kinds of shoes, hiking gear or other useful items that you will need. A common sense consideration. Sunglasses, blockers, aspirins, those 'must have' items, chapsticks and the rest you can get on site. Anyone who is into photography these days knows what they will need and if they don't, they sure will not forget next time.
