View from the Alvorada Hotel by rui_bijie This hotel offers the best price-performance ratio and a stunning view - it was recommended to us by several Brazilians. The interior is out and out 60ies style, it will fit perfectly into your Brasilia experience and make the impression complete :-). General Tip: Go to Brasilia on weekends! Hotel prizes will drop then by up to 40%! Reservations can be easily made from the Tourist Information at the airport. A taxi ride from the airport to the Hotel will be about 25-30 R$. Be sure to ask the taxi driver for the direct route (taxi-meters - and the use of them (!) - are quite common) or fix the price ahead - otherwise you'll get the indirect "tourist route" and pay about 50 R$! If you are arriving in Brasilia without a hotel reservation, go to the Brasilia information center before you leave the airport. It opens at 8am. I paid 100 reais for a hotel room which would have cost me 176 reais if I had just turned up at the front desk. The office has a list of all the hotels who have unsold rooms which they are offering at reduced prices on a last minute basis. Theme: OtherAddress: In the airport terminal

There are some good options for the budget traveller: the guesthouses in W3-Sul avenue. They are cheap (about R$ 28,00 ~ US$15.00 a day). They are very simple places, generally homes that were turned into guesthouses and that are runned by a family (don't expect to have someone fluent in English to host you over there - in any case, if you need, I'll get in touch with them for you and arrange it). I'll later post some addresses of some of them. They are a good alternative to the hostel of Brasilia, which is located in the most isolated area of the city, where few buses go in the weekends.
They don't have much to offer, but are very well located, in downtown Brasília, near bus stops, shopping centers, stores, restaurants and supermarkets and even some attractions are reachable by a few minutes walking. Service: Very pleasant but be warned: No English is spoken at this facility! Facilities: Room was spacious and clean. A/C worked well, room was secure and quiet. Breakfast: Breakfast was VERY good and included several fresh pastries, eggs, tropical fruits, etc.. Internet: Interent service is available free of charge. Fax: A Fax/Business center is available. Phones: Each room is equipped with a phone. ADVISORY: Local calls are not free. Recommended: Yes. Price: Roughly 70 Reais per night, or $35 USD at today's exchange rate (April 2007). Elevators: Yes. Security: Yes.
No pool, no view, but the location is excellent. It's not in the Plano Piloto (City Center), but it's really in the middle of everything without being slammed w/traffic and noise. I felt secure at this hotel. I 've stayed there in 2005,it is a good Hotel , clean and cozy rooms,if you go with familly for vacation or for business, accomodation includes acess to water park just 100 m away.Just one thing must be a problem is not so close to the center of city, but with a taxi it is not problem. For another side is a calm place to relax and feel good.
