Itaparica
Itaparica is an island close to Salvador. You can take a boat and go for the day. It has the best beaches in Salvador, and the water is amazingly warm. Be sure to bring sunblock, 'cause it'll be hot.

After we booked all our flights and some accommodation, we just discovered a problem with our Brazil itinerary that partially covers Carnival period.
During the carnival we will stay in el Morro De Sao Paulo, and on March 7 we have a flight from Salvador to Rio (at noon). The problem is that we can't get to Salvador before our flight to Rio on March 7, so we will have to travel to Salvador one day before and spend 1 night there (March 6). As all hotels and hostels only offer 5 - 7 day packages during carnival period, how and where could we find 2 beds for just one night in Salvador?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much,
Srechko, Toronto
Book into a motel, there are plenty around Itapuã which would be handy for your flight. They do bookings by the hour.
You have one month to find acommodation in Salvador. I believe you have a chance.
First of all be sure the airport adress, and then find a hostel/flat nearby.
Flats in Salvador/BA: * Pituba Apart Service
* Mar Brasil; http://www.marbrasilhotel.com.br/
Hostels in Salvador: http://www.apartment-in-brazil.com/apartment-rental-salvador.php
Before deal with hostels/flat owners look after you may easily reach airport. Generally crowd is ingaged in carnival and do not permit car passages at streets. That's why I believe rent acommodation in Pituba or Itapoã district may be nice for you.
Good luck. Cassiovieggore
Like 2dejulho mentioned the motels are rented by the hour (cause they are mainly used for sex) and they can be an option if you are stuck.
And as long as you don´t mind sleeping in what can look a bit like a porno suite then they are actually mostly quite nice and not expensive.
Great suggestions - thanks very much guys!
I'll look somewhere else

Have you checked out the catamaran ( kind of a hover craft speed boat ) that takes like 100 passengers at a time and leaves Morro de São Paulo for Salvador in the morning ( I believe at 10:00 AM ) and at 3 PM ?
