More about Renaissance Costa do Sauipe Resort

Fabulous!!

by TripAdvisor Member R-Julie

Myself and my husband returned from Brazil last week after a wonderful holiday staying at Superclubs Breezes Costa Do Sauipe.

The hotel was fabulous. The rooms were spacious and kept spotlessly clean. The food was excellent, in particular the speciality restaurants. The food at Jimmy's buffet was also great, particularly the pasta station. The service at Jimmy's wasn't so good, but management were clearly taking steps to improve this and the service had improved a great deal by the end of our stay. The drinks are another plus point, generally premium brands with Brahma on tap. Since Brazil is a Portuguese speaking country, most of the staff cannot speak much English. This proved to be most entertaining at the bars and we had many laughs over the drinks we ended up with - which were nothing like the ones we had asked for!! Who cares though, it is all inclusive. Credit must go to Roque who works in the Piano bar in he evenings. He was by far the best barman and his English was fantastic, it was possible to get any drink you wanted at the first time of asking. The entertainment in the evenings may have been a disappointment to some people but it was no problem for us. Again management appeared to be taking steps to improve the entertainment options available.

The hotel is situated a five minute walk away from the village at the centre of the complex. This was great for a walk either in the daytime or the evenings, it was perfectly safe. There is entertainment in the village square most nights and we enjoyed our last night in Brazil listening to a local Samba band. Obviously the drinks are not included but they are not expensive and it is nice to have the opportunity to get out of the hotel. There is a bank in the village to use for changing Travellers Cheques but we just used the ATM.

Just thought I'd mention the excursions as this was what I wanted to know about before I went. We travelled with First Choice and booked our excursions through JB, the First Choice rep (JB is by far the best rep we have ever encountered on holiday, he really cares about his guests and whether they are having a good time). We went on several excursions. Salvador and the jeep safari were fantastic but nothing compares to the trip to Rio. It cost approximately £375 each but was worth every penny. The price includes two nights B&B accomodation just off Copacobana beach. We stayed at Hotel Vilamar Copacobana which was wonderful. The excursion also includes two half day tours to the Statue of Jesus Christ and Sugarloaf Mountain. We also had free time to explore. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within a short walk of the hotel so there is no need to venture far at night. We were warned by about safety by JB before we went and were sensible whilst we were there and felt perfectly safe. Deciding to go to Rio was one of the best decisions we've ever made and I would recommend it to everyone.

All in all we had a great holiday. Superclubs Breezes was fantastic and I think it will continue to improve over the coming months as they get used to the influx of British tourists.

Splendid isolation

If you want a clean, pleasant, but faceless place to stay then this may well suit you.

Once inside the complex you could almost be anywhere in the world. And that for me was the problem with this place.

I couldn't fault the hotel, its spotless and the staff are friendly, if a little slow on service.
The food however, was boring and monotonous. The buffet nearly bored us to death. The dining room is noisy and more like a school dinner hall. You can forget romantic dinners for 2 here.

How a hotel of this calibre cannot offer an A la Carte menu is beyond me. The japanese place was ok, it did at least offer a limited menu but even that somehow just didn't make the grade. ( they put soy on everything, and I mean EVERYTHING)

Next door doesn't provide much of a reprieve either, but thats because the food comes out of the same kitchens! And the mexican place there was truly awful. We went once, left half way through and didn't go back. We were not alone in that experience.

The beach and area is beautiful and this purpose built complex is nice to walk or cycle around, but we felt trapped. It's not like a village where you can wander around in the evenings and enjoy different restaurants and bars. It's so cut off from anywhere else, and taxis to even the nearest village are expensive.

We were going stir crazy at the resort so we did venture out and it was well worth it. There is so much to do and see in the area beyond the resort. And frankly we were just so glad to eat food that didn't come from a buffet.

It just doesn't feel or seem like a Brazilian place and that was a big disappointment.

There's no soul or personality to this resort, and surely of all places you would expect and hope to find character and colour, it's Brazil.

Not Bad

by TripAdvisor Member Gypsies

In my opinion this is only a 4* not 4+/5 as suggested by tour operator. Good facilities in the complex but nothing to do or nowhere to go independantly outside, so great if you want to just laze around & stay inside. Trips to Rio/Iguassu falls extremely expensive & not all inclusive. Rooms clean, great pool, all named alcoholic drinks were included as well as local - fantastic. Most of the staff were fabulous & happy to help but most don't speak English, a small few couldn't even be bothered to smile. Good food all round, pool bar steaks fantastic, a la carte restaurants a nice change, birds flying in Jimmy's beautiful but not very hygienic & 2 occasional cats not so good. The food needs to be covered.

A: "Book into a motel, there are plenty around Itapuã which would be handy for your flight. They do bookings by the hour."
