Pousada Rio Da Barra: Secluded heaven

LOcated in the old dirt road, 15 minutes drive from Trancoso, this place is the ideal for those who don't want to be in the fuss of town, but still have it reachable.
Family has owned the place for over a century, cannot be described, too beautifull for words. Suitable for every taste, families with kids will enjoy it, but so will honeymooners or even large group of friends. Rooms with air conditioning, good bathrooms and frigobar. The restaurant food is fabulous, but you can only order untill certain times in the evening. The breakfast is also top quality, fruits, breads, cakes, juices, ommelettes, etc,it's almost a meal.
The view is marvelous from wherever you look, to one side there is the cliff from where paragliders use to take off, we didnt see anyone last year though. There is a natural pool, a lake made by the river joining the sea, where one can swimm at certain times. One can also rent kajyaks or a boat. I would suggest to rent a car unless wanting to stay all the time there.
No English spoken, but I have seen Germans,Scandinavians and so on communicating well there. Prices per room, but no prices on web site. Usually around U$100 a day on season, a bit less off it. (season december/january/feb, Easter and 2 weeks in july) The web site is only in Portuguese, I'm afraid...

The scenary, great view, the place itself. High qualility local cuisine. Good price for a place on the beach.

Pousada Mundo Verde: My best stay in Trancoso

This marvelous place is runned by a couple,Brazilain/Danish.Located in the old entrance of Trancoso, off the dirt road, just before the road splits again to get to the Quadrado. One enters a forest, with well manicured gardens,8 houses with two appartments each, ground, and first floor. All appartments have a great view, and coming to the end of the top of the hill ,the reception desk, the house that serves as restaurant, a Tv room, and toilettes, ending in a platform with 12,50 meter pool.Food is available on request almost at any time,in less than half hour you can be eating the most marvelous grilled fish, with steamed and seasoned vegetables and white rice, top quality, the prices were very good too.The morning breakfast is a buffet, self service, and this was so rich, so abundant and inviting, that we would not have lunch until gone 4pm.They fruit, baskets with different kinds of bread, butter & jam, home made muesli with a choice of two different flavours of home made yoghurt, cakes and biscuits.Every day they change something: one day pancakes, another scramble eggs or ommelette, etc. The appartments are spacious, very tastily decorated, and with all comfort one could ask for. The bathrooms with showers are big and superbly decorated.Air conditioning fantastic, a frigobar with(also)very reasonable prices, and a little lounge area with flat screen TV, and the posibility of watching movies, just request them at reception. They also have internet access, there is only one PC , the hotel's one, but they make available for use subject to a little price per minute. The other advantage is that one can book day tous with them, and, if they do not book what you are looking for, will be able to direct you to the best. The location is great as it is less than 5 minutes drive to the beaches or 15 minutes walk, and you are right next to the touristic area.Very reasonable prices, can be found on website.

The place itself, views that take your breath away, a marvelous swimming pool to enjoy that view, top quality breakfast and food service in general.
Prices are per appartment (variations as more people added) and varies from on to off season (more expensive on season) top price around U$100 a day for a family suite.

Villa's on the Beach: Villa de Trancoso-Paradise Found

What a fantastic place to get away from it all! After flying 33-hours from Singapore, we were not sure what to expect. Dazed and confused, we arrived through the gates of Villas de Trancoso to find paradise: thatched villa's, marble swimming pool with bar, grassy courtyard with tropical flowers and birds and then finally, the private beach with fluffy chairs and a cool breeze! (How they got the cool breeze for us, I'll never know!) The awesome staff met us with 'Grande' Caparinas (as requested) and we settled into the Bahia way of life: relax, eat, relax, beach, eat, golf and relax. Galen and his team made sure that we were taken care of from the beginning, to the end, of our entire holiday. Living in the tropics already, I didn’t think that the beaches of Thailand and Malaysia could be topped, but with the villas, food, beach and staff, they were soundly beaten! We will be heading back in 2007! Check it out at: mybrazilianbeachdotcom. Thank you Villas de Trancoso for an amazing time!

PS-Practice your Portugese, it will impress the cooks and get you extra homemade cakes in the morning!

THE BEACH. THE STAFF. THE FOOD.

Suites Nativas: Suites Nativas

I stayed at Suites Nativas, very close to Praia Dos Nativos. It's a complex with cute houses. Where I stayed we had 2 beds in the room, and 2 in the living room. A kitchen with everything you need to cook. A nice experience, I really enjoyed staying there!

We found these guys camping near the beach and seemed they had a lot of fun!
As we are camping fans, next time maybe it will be the option! We asked and seems like there's no rules of specific camping areas, you can open your camp wherever you want!

POUSADA PUERTO BANANAS

In the beggining, only 3 guys planned to spend the holiday in Trancoso.
As the holiday season requests afast-decision-booking guys, they booked by phone at Bahia Bonita Inn for 4 guys.
During the month of december, they made us almost crazy telling fantastic stories about Trancoso all the time-result:the list got bigger and bigger, but at Bahia Bonita there was no more rooms available.
Lucky us,we found at Puerto Bananas for the rest, both Inns where not far from each other(considering the size of Trancoso, how far it could be??),and in a splendid location too!
I was in Puerto Bananas, and loved it!
It is right at the "Quadrado Historico",very close to "Coqueiro Beach".
Bungalows have air-conditioner,fridge,daily room-service,and serve a delicious Brazilian breakfast!There's a restaurant,a bar and a souvenir shop.
The price wasn't so nice but at holidays you are lucky if you get anyhting available, than,no complaints!
