u have to go by car because its kinda far, around 15 minutes from the center. There is a wonderful restaurant. My suggestion is to go to this beach and spend the whole day there.
Try the "moqueca" or "bobo de camarão", two typical foods from this area.
Mosquito repelent is a must, though 99% places will have mosquito nets over beds. Sun protection a must too. Electrcity plug converters are needed if travelling from the UK. comfy foot wear, people use Hawaianas (flip flops) most of the day. there are 3 pharmacies in Trancoso, but if you arent renting a car, bring whatever you think ultra necessary, it takes 15/20 min drive to Trancoso. IF, like me, you love photography, bring your best with you...I suffered a lot for lack of good cameras. They also rent camping spaces here. a good Portuguese/whatever language you speak...as they dont speak much English there...
I only stayed 1 day and 1 night in Trancoso. When I was there, it was raining 24 hours a day. That's why I decided to move on, and explore some new horizons for the short notice I was in Brazil. But I have heared some really great stories of friends of mine, who have been there before - and after - my trip. So be sure to check this place out. It is really a wonderfull spot. The village itself is very cosy, with its main square, and the colourfull houses that are standing around it. Just enjoy the atmosphere, which I think is unique.
