Hi, We are considering moving to Joao Pessoa and would like to know if there are any english or bilingual primary schools around? Can anyone recommend some safe suburbs to live in?

About the Schools in Joao Pessoa:
I live in Joao Pessoa and I can tell you everything you want to know about this city. There is no English school here! Your children can study in a normal school and they will learn to speak Portuguese very fast. You may ask me 'How is a normal school in Joao Pessoa?'. And I will answer to you. In a normal school your children will study all the subjects in Portuguese. They will study Physics, History, Geography, Chemistry, Biology, Math, etc in our mother language (Port). And they will have a subject called English, French and Spanish to learn foreign languages. There are many English Course here, where your children go twice in a week to study English, these courses are extra school.

There are some safe suburbs/quarter next to the sea in Joao Pessoa. There are few suburbs, for example: Intermares, Bessa, Manaira, Tambau and Cabo Branco. If you decide to live in one of these areas/neighbourhood, you can go to the beach just walking. I live in a big and amazing apartament in Manaira. I can go to beach just walking :)

A place like that would never be seen in Canada, in the USA and also in Europe, but in the far endings of Brazil you can perfectly see such an exotic fair just like this one I saw in a city not so far from João Pessoa.
I was in Pedras de Fogo and had lots of fun in a local fair which divides two states of the Republic, Paraiba and Pernambuco.
There you can see cow heads hanging in a fair stand, the local people do appreciate eating it....
SECOND WEEK OF JUNE - 2005
After two hours of crossing the beach and two rivers by canoe, exactly like the first colonozers did some centuries ago...we finally found the Barra do Mamanguape where the locals preserve the mamattis...But when we got there, the animals got hidden, but it was really important and incredible to visit such a wild place!

Next to Cabedelo Town, there is a small town called Forte Velho. You can go there by car from João Pessoa, but it will take you more than one hour and thirty minutes. You can go there by boat too, or by...bus-boat. It is a real bus , but with no wheels or tyres.
