Ok place...
We booked the Ponta Verde Hotel via the internet (on GOL's website, actually) after reading reviews. I found the pricing of the hotels in Maceio a little pricey for Brazil - but then again, this is a vacation town. We had an ocean front room on the first floor -- so although we had a great view, the traffic noise from down below was rather loud. We had a "suite" that was very large and comfortable. The elevators that service the part of the hotel we were in (glass elevator looking out towards the ocean) were not so quick -- thank goodness we could use the stairs! Breakfast buffet (included) was of traditional northeastern fair (including the fruits, juices, tapioca etc) and was definetely decent. Front desk staff didn't seem to happy nor did they seem to know much about the city - which was odd. It is a huge hotel -- although it doesn't look like it from the street. As such, finding a table a breakfast can be difficult.
If we returned to Maceio I doubt we'd return to this hotel -- it's not that it was bad, it's just that it wasn't anything to write home about.
Unique Quality: Nice views of the ocean from the upper floors...
